Gemelli, Gross and Dujmic My experience with this firm was nothing short of miraculous. As a father fighting for joint custody of his children the odds are stacked against you in a big way. Men in the past have not been viewed as more than child support providers when marriages don’t work out. Even the ones who truly want to be fathers to their children and share in the responsibility of raising their children aren’t always given a fair shake. Sadly they become just a guy who gets to see their kids on the weekend or worse, every other. This in my opinion is effects the child as negatively as it does the parent longing to be with them. As the dad to 4 year old twin little girls who has carried his weight as a parent since the birth of his daughters, I wished for nothing less than joint custody when my wife’s and my marriage had run its course. Unfortunately she and her lawyers had other plans and went after everything I had in an attempt to do as much damage as possible. To the extent of making me seem unfit as a parent in an attempt to make sure I would not get what I deserved. Equal rights and custody of my daughters. John and David weren’t having it. From the moment I walked into their office and shared my story I knew I was where, and with whom I was supposed to be. I felt as though I was with family. They were concerned and genuinely wanted to help me. They began working immediately. They reassured me that everything was going to be ok and maintained that philosophy throughout the entire year long ordeal. Never wavering or allowing me to despair when things got a little crazy. Their experience and knowledge of the way family law works is second to none. Maybe more importantly, their personal relationships and reputation with those within the Queens county family court system is second to none. Saying I was well represented is an understatement. A little more than a year later and I am finally nearing the end of this ordeal. I am incredibly happy to say that I have indeed been awarded joint custody of my children amongst other tremendous victories regarding my case. I am so very grateful to this firm and the people who work there for the time and energy they spent on me and my case to ensure that i walked away with the two most precious things I have in this world. I could not agree with Kate's review more. I was fortunate in that my divorce proceedings lasted only 1.75 years rather than 3.5. Mr. Gemelli knows his craft and does not waste time with the rigamorole. Yes, I was annoyed that he wasn't available to hand hold but I sincerely appreciated, at the end of the day when I settled my divorce, that every item I asked for was something he worked hard to obtain for me, and did obtain for me, even if he disagreed with what I wanted. I, too, was impressed that everybody - the judge, law secretary, support staff, and even the court officers - knows and, more importantly, respects Mr. Gemelli. That respect and command of the courtroom is bar none. It is also worth noting that I received a Court Ordered temporary visitation schedule which both a therapist with thirty (30) years of experience and an attorney for the children with equivalent experience remarked to me separately that it was "unheard of," i.e., I was able to obtain valuable and meaningful time with my two children which was not the norm for a father to receive based on how my case was handled by Mr. Gemelli. I highly recommend him in the unfortunate event you are going through a divorce.
