I had a wonderful experience being represented by John Gemelli as my Divore lawyer, John is a very experienced professional and knows how to communicate with everyone. In my case we ended up becoming friends. I highly recommend John Gemelli if you need a tough lawyer to defend your interests.

I could not agree with Kate's review more. I was fortunate in that my divorce proceedings lasted only 1.75 years rather than 3.5. Mr. Gemelli knows his craft and does not waste time with the rigamorole. Yes, I was annoyed that he wasn't available to hand hold but I sincerely appreciated, at the end of the day when I settled my divorce, that every item I asked for was something he worked hard to obtain for me, and did obtain for me, even if he disagreed with what I wanted. I, too, was impressed that everybody - the judge, law secretary, support staff, and even the court officers - knows and, more importantly, respects Mr. Gemelli. That respect and command of the courtroom is bar none. It is also worth noting that I received a Court Ordered temporary visitation schedule which both a therapist with thirty (30) years of experience and an attorney for the children with equivalent experience remarked to me separately that it was "unheard of," i.e., I was able to obtain valuable and meaningful time with my two children which was not the norm for a father to receive based on how my case was handled by Mr. Gemelli. I highly recommend him in the unfortunate event you are going through a divorce.

Contrary to a few negative reviews, I to, in the beginning thought Mr. Gemelli was only after my money because I didn’t understand the system. After spending over 3.5 years back and forth in court, adjourned dates, settlement meetings, the court not stepping in, I realized it wasn't my attorney - it's the system and my ex manipulating that system. Mr. Gemelli is definitely one of the most straightforward and candid individuals I have come in contact with. That doesn't mean he doesn't care, it means he's cut throat at getting what is right when representing his clients. When going through a divorce, the emotional side takes over and Mr. Gemelli keeps it real, as hard as it is to hear. Mr. Gemelli kept me focused, allowed me to have a temper tantrum but always kept me in check.... tough love if you will. Sometimes what he was saying wasn't always easy to hear and we didn’t always see eye-to-eye but he knows the law and not every divorce is a win win. There is give and take along with negotiating to the bitter end. Mr. Gemelli is very well respected by his peers, judges, law clerks, his staff and his family. If you are looking for hand holding, find another attorney. If you want what is rightfully yours by the law in a divorce, hire Mr. Gemelli. Don't expect him to be in touch with you on every email or inquiry that’s why he has a staff that works under him to maintain the day-to-day. He's a pit bull in the courtroom should your case make it to trial and can close a deal hands down. I went to the very end with my negotiations and yes, I had to cave on things that were smaller in comparison to the big picture but without the guidance and expertise of Mr. Gemelli and his colleague, David Gross, I wouldn’t be where I am today. No one said divorce was easy so you have to decide pit bull or hand holding!

John Gemelli is brilliant. He is honest, he listens, he is efficient and extremely effective. I am forever grateful to him!

John Gemelli handled my case VERY UNPROFESSIONALLY and was UNRESPONSIVE, ARROGANT & DISRESPECTFUL He lacks total integrity or abides by the Code of Ethics. My review shall mimic almost the same experience & sentiments as indicated in the review written by DFE. In my opinion, Unfortunately I too retained Gemelli for my divorce which lasted over 2 years. He did not represent me as he indicated he would prior to me retaining him. Once retained and he got my money, after just a few meetings his whole attitude changed. Almost immediately he started not returning my calls and blatantly disregarded my questions & concerns. I believe my divorce was delayed and greatly affected by his actions & lack there of. He exhibited some of the same unprofessional behavior stated in the previous review written by DFE. I feel I was not represented effectively by him and his lack of providing the services he said he would perform, caused me additional hardship, financial burden and much undue stress. Anyone seeking a lawyer should do their due diligence. Personally, I could not have been more disgusted, extremely disappointed and dissatisfied with my choice.

She is patient, attentive, up front, and actually friendly. These are qualities I typically don't expect from a lawyer. Usually I feel like I'm being sized-up for a vivisection or some kind of unwilling vital organ removal. This doesn't mean she's a cream puff: the case for which we retained her services, she handily won. We will continue to use her services.

My matrimonial case started in 2007 and ended as criminal in 2014. I had 2 different attorneys prior to Gemelli in 2007 and part of 2008 at the cost of $30000 for both. I retained this third (Gemelli) attorney for 3 years on my case, from 2008 to 2011, it cost me $38000 (This attorney alone) and 27 court adjournments, finally I asked him the question: " Are you working for me or for the ex?" He got so offended that he replied: " If you have doubts who I work for, it is time for you to look for another attorney". The next court appearance, a few days later, instead of defending me, he trash me in front of Judge William Harrington and requested from the Judge to be relieved from being my attorney. Judge granted his request, leaving me in the middle of the trial without attorney. Three months later I found another attorney, paid him nessrly $30,000, but eventually lost his license and left without an attorney for the 4th time. I had to retain a 5th attorney at a cost of nearly $20,000. Gemelli claims that I still owe him an additional $23,000 since 2011, but I denied him since he left me in the middle of my case. He took me to Civil Court and my trial is on October 3, 2018, and I will fight him to the bone. He is the most greedy, arrogant, liar, incompident attorney I ever met and he deserves his practice to be revoked and be reported to Bar Association for his license to be revoked. Justice must prevail.

I felt the need to write a review so that others would be aware prior to hiring John gemelli for reperesentation. I have to say he is very self centered and acts as if he is god. He is a liar, theif, and has absolute lack of respect for everyone. The only thing he is after is money plain and simple. He would take your case, but as soon as he gets your money he will not fully represent you as promised or as mutually agreed upon. Throughout my divorce case I lost hundreds of thousands of dollars. I would not recommend him to anyone.
