I had a disappointing experience working with Peter Sisca and Tom Kain, who represented me in my apartment purchase several years ago. A few months after the purchase, I knew something was wrong when I saw that the deed hadn't been recorded with NY state. Long story short, I later discovered that the title company had stolen the money for the transfer tax, and I lost $7,000 in the process.
I should emphasize that it was not Peter who stole my money, but it was his recommendation to use the fraudulent title agent who did. Additionally, I emailed him and Tom Kain multiple times about the deed not being recorded in the months after the purchase, and Tom's response was "I'm looking into this. I'll get back to you ASAP." And then I would never hear back. This happened several times over the course of multiple years before I understood the full extent of what happened to me and how the transfer tax money was stolen. New York later came after me for the lack of payment, so I had to pay the tax a second time.
The only reason I am not giving 1 star is that once everything came out about the theft, Peter took steps to try and retrieve my money. While I appreciate those steps (which were ultimately unsuccessful), the reason this happened in the first place was due to their recommendation to go with this title sketchy title company, and their inattention to my concerned emails resulted in further penalties to me. An attorney with higher integrity would have reimbursed me for the money I lost, and I communicated as much to Peter. However he refused to provide any reimbursement. It's all very painful, especially because lawyers are supposed to help you avoid this exact thing. The whole thing has been a nightmare.
