They have the title of "Constable" yet they have no lawful police authority. None. Their duty is to enforce the Port Jefferson Village code, so while they can write you a parking ticket they have no authority to arrest you, to detain you, to question you, or even to write you a speeding ticket. So why are they carrying firearms? The fact that these part-time code enforcement employees carry firearms is very strange and more than a little bit creepy.

What a bunch of inept public servants. Tyrants and bullies. We the People need to request a lot of public information records from this department. There needs to be a thorough investigation into their behaviors when dealing with the public.

Whenever I need something down port, I call the constable line instead of 911 and the constables come immediately. I’m so grateful for the village and for their hard work. Thank you!
