Lack of proper law enforcement authority and training
“They have the title of "Constable" yet they have no lawful police authority. None. Their duty is to enforce the Port Jefferson Village code, so while they can write you a parking ticket they have no authority to arrest you, to detain you, to question you, or even to write you a speeding ticket. So why are they carrying firearms? The fact that these part-time code enforcement employees carry firearms is very strange and more than a little bit creepy.”
