I was on vacation with my family in New York, and unfortunately received a speeding citation in Steuben County. Having worked as a criminal paralegal for 20+ years in North Carolina, I was immediately put at ease when I contacted The Law Office of James L. Riotto. The entire staff is super friendly, very professional, and responded quickly to any questions I had. I highly recommend using their services!

After being told personally by a prominent local attorney that there was nothing that he could do about my legal matter I reached out to the office of James L. Riotto. Not only did they deliver on everything I asked of them, the cost was half of what I was quoted elsewhere. All interactions with staff were prompt and professional. Highly recommended!

I worked with Mr. Schmitt for a divorce agreement, he is a lawyer, so I don't think anyone should expect him to be warm and fuzzy, but he will work pragmatically in your best interest. I hired Mr. Schmitt to draft a divorce agreement based on terms previously set in mediation. I expressed what was important to me in the agreement and that most importantly I wanted to be divorced quickly. He never once dragged out any processes and he allowed me to pay his very reasonable fees in monthly installments. From the time I walked into his office to the time I was LEGALLY divorced was about 2.5 months. Not only that, he answered questions and concerns I had about my ex violating the agreement- he was always informative (I may not have liked his answers, but he tells it like it is!).

This law firm represented me on a moving violation that would have come with 6 points on my license reduced down to a parking ticket. I am so happy with the legal services they provided. Zero points! They far exceeded my expectations. Their retainer fee is on the higher end but still comparable in the industry for similar services. If you are looking for a great outcome, give them a call to discuss your case. Wonderful communication, as well, both by phone and email. Definitely recommend.

After talking with literally hundreds of lawyers about my case, in my opinion, David was the most professional out of all of them. I did not end up retaining Mr. Pilato because of the distance and travel costs (which for the distance was extremely reasonable) however during our initial consultation he gave me some great advice which helped me get more time to find an attorney. He told me I could call him anytime for advice on my case, I could tell he was a genuine person & actually cared about my situation.

Will hire again and again

Go to the bottom and read the real reviews, not the fake 5 stars. He seems to be a nice person and professional lawyer according to other reviews, and that was why I retained him. BUT, my experience on a traffic ticket was awful. He and his coullgues will take your case (and persuade you to pay) even though they know it's totally a waste of your money. It was NOT HELPFUL AT ALL. There is some information he will never tell you before you pay. Try avoid him if you have a simple traffic matter but just want to try pre-trial conversation with a prosecutor. You can actually do it on your own, or find a lawyer who is less arrogant and more professional. Save the money, and there is no any difference regarding the results. Until today I read other negative reviews and learned he was a police officer. That may help you guess which cases he is good at and what cases he just wants your money and not plans to really help you. That's all I can say. Be smart before you make a decision!!

Hands down the best

As i moved out to the wonderful state of New York, I became REALLY good friends with the New York State Troopers as well as many police departments in the upstate area. :) Unfortunately, our friendship turned sour as I found my multiple court summons in my mailbox. :( I was referred to a law firm in the upstate area, and fortunately turned down all my cases. I then looked no further when i came into contact with the Law Office of James L. Riotto, (well, the wonderful Destinee Kessler) She took my case and ran with it, putting in numerous hours, days, and months to perfect the best possible outcome. I (She) ended my rigorous battle with the wonderful state of New York with some pretty fines and like 1 or 2 points off my license. (originally i was charged with like 3 speeding tickets and a misdemeanor with like 11 points. and now I have a couple parking tickets and like a point) THANK YOU DESTINEE :)

Excellent outcome of a speeding ticket my daughter received, if I could give them 6 stars, I would. Professional, always responded to emails and calls, and to top it off, got a dismissal of the infraction.
