I live in NYC and never drive out of the city but on a fateful day I did. Went for a BBQ a work colleague was having two hours from NYC. On my way home it was late, dark, and hardly saw a driver for miles, so I thought why not drive fast. As I was passing an area called Town of Highlands, I got pulled over by a police officer I never saw; probably had a radar. Was my first time ever being pulled over by a police officer for anything. Got a speeding ticket for a little over 100mph on a 55mph. I drove at that speed for maybe 30 seconds literally since nobody was around. That’s an 11-point offense punishable by license suspension, a hefty fine, and huge insurance premium increases. Was my first time ever being in trouble with the law. I drive safely in NYC due to the congestion, tons of speeding cameras, and police patrols. I drive to work from Brooklyn to the Bronx so I needed my car for work. Public transportation would take 2hr 15min one way (4.5hrs both ways) and cab would be $100/day. I contacted this firm and they took my case immediately. A lawyer called me shortly and answered all my questions. I had contacted a different lawyer near me first but he was very aggressive about getting paid immediately and refused to answer any questions until I paid him. But the lawyer at Tilem & Associates was so professional and gracious and answered all my questions and concerns before I ever submitted payment, so of course I went with this firm. It took 13 months to resolve this ticket. I was hoping for a realistic outcome like a reduction from 11 to 8 points and I thought with the defensive driving class I could drop it further to 4 points. But this firm got my 11-point offense downgraded to a parking ticket. Needless to say, I am extremely impressed and grateful for this amazing result. Now I have a second chance. I have 0 points on my license still and will be very careful to keep it that way.
