Ms. Hicks explained my options and even showed me each thing that she was talking about in the law books. Even though she could not help me at this moment she told me when to come back. I appreciate her because now I am educated more about my situation.

She is willing to cover my ex husbands case when he has abused me for years, I am terrified of him ever getting custody of my child and she takes his case? Pathetic. To add they are claiming I am “bipolar” when I have never been diagnosed as bipolar in my life. They also have MANY issues with their forms submitted to me that they filed. And truly it is pathetic. Good luck supporting your client Joel Hladik who likes to abuse women.

I am seeking legal representation as my exhusband harassed me in court for almost 6 years and then used a false DSS report to obtain primary custody of my children (I have evidence he lied in the DSS report). He was trying to get full Custody but the court would not allow that. He has only 1% more custody then me and was able to take my children 2,100 miles away from me (from North Carolina to Arizona). My exhusband then began accusing me of being a spy on his household and refused to allow me normal phone contact with my children out of fear that my children would give me too much information. I was told in an email by him that my phone calls with them would be limited, monitored, and possibly recorded by him. I had to call them at their school from 2,100 miles away. He has had them for over 7 years now and has turned them against me. His name is a Raymond Mathew Ryan and he now lives in Oklahoma City (1,300 miles away from me) with my kids. I have contacted child protective services and they have sent police to his house and he tells the police that I have been deemed mentally incompetent and I have the police reports to show that. He sent me an email bragging that whenever police come to his house regarding my children, he lets them know I am deemed mentally incompetent and they quickly complete their business. I have never been deemed mentally incompetent, yet he is able to convince them that I am with no documentation of me being deemed mentally incompetent. I have the police reports to prove his defamation of character which is another way he can be sued. He used lies to deter police investigation…this man is corrupt and he has my children…still. This lawyer said she could not not help me sue for my civil rights being violated. I have rights as a mother and the court system has allowed my exhusband to violate my rights for over 7 years now. One of these days I will find a lawyer who knows how to represent someone who is the victim of severe injustice. This firm can’t handle a case that truly deserves justice. I paid Mergit $100 for a consultation and her advice to me before leaving was to talk to the magistrate downtown, which I did immediately after leaving her office. The magistrate told me that he only takes criminal cases and mine is not the kind of criminal case he can take. This was just another dead end in my search for a lawyer who can get me justice.

Margit Hicks is phenomenal to say the least. She cares about her clients and has their best interest at heart. I came to her about a year ago during a child support battle with my ex husband and she reassured me that I could stand trial without her. She was right! Fast forward, he then hired an attorney to get the child support arrears to be removed and also to update child support amount. I remembered Margit and how she had guided me in the right direction the previous year. This time around I did need her services and retained her. She was amazing and kept me informed every step of the way. She was able to get me exactly what I wanted. Words cannot express my gratitude. Thank you so much ☺️

I am currently going through custody battle and a divorce. I first started out with Chris Peebles and that was an absolute nightmare. After letting him go and hiring Mrs. Hicks, I have never felt more confident in this whole experience. She works very hard for her clients, and you can tell this is not just a job for her it is a passion for her to help people in these situations. She is very strong and cares about her clients. I HIGHLY recommend her for divorce and custody needs. You will not be steered wrong or disappointed ever. I wish I had hired her from the beginning of my separation and custody.

She is absolutely horrible! She seems to be a bit bias toward clients who may look more like her. She is full of apathy for her own clients and charges exorbitant amounts for simple things. This may only be for Black women seeking a divorce, she may have more compassion and understanding to those of a "lighter hue".

She is awesome! I found her to help with my husbands separation agreement in 2021 needing to be amended. We got everything we wanted and she was fair and honest and top tier in communication! I’ve recommended her to others and will continue to do so!
