Lack of effective representation and defense in criminal cases
“This lawyer is probably good for drug violations, but not as a criminal defense attorney. He postponed my trial for 4 years; I appeared in court once a month only to find it postponed. Once the trial began, he never defended by actions nor presented my case, but only quoted other cases that were dismissed.”

Poor responsiveness and follow-through in some cases
“I contacted Mr. Matthews on April 18th, 2019 re: my ex-husband's pension benefits. I paid him $200.00 consultation fee. After that, I called his office every week or so and was strung along with words to the effect, 'He has to make a phone call.' Or, 'He has to check here or there,' etc. etc. etc.”

When I questioned the amount the opposing lawyer used for the calculation of child support and even provided a detailed spreadsheet of my income, this 'lawyer' did not have the courage to insist where the other lawyer's numbers came from.”
