Mr. McAvoy contacted my son who had hired him almost one year ago on a Sunday night at 6:00 pm to let us know that we had to be in Superior Court the next day or my son would have a warrant out for his arrest. Of note, we live 6 hours away in Charlotte, NC. My son and I left after throwing one outfit in the car, only to find out that our case would not be heard today, but most likely tomorrow! We did meet with Mr. McAvoy on Monday and this was our first encounter with him. He didn't remember our names and that we had traveled a long way for Court. He had to keep asking where we were from. My son and I e-mailed important information that would have been very prudent for my son's case and he didn't "HAVE TIME" to print it out. My son and I had it printed at yet another hotel. He failed to even present this important information to the Judge. My son's case did get dropped from a felony to a misdemeanor which was great, but the Judge decided to make him do a drug test which my son had earlier told the Judge that he would fail a drug test for marijuana, because he had only quit 20 days ago, but the judge did drug test my son which he wasn't arrested for - and it was positive for marijuana and cocaine. My son does not do cocaine and we pleaded for a second test, but they would not do it. My son's court costs were $1,000 where others were $100-$200. My son is also now serving 30 days in jail in Dare County. We also told Mr. McAvoy that we had recently lost my son's father and my husband and I needed Zac at home. But to no avail. I think this attorney was way more interested in being on the Town Council than helping my son. I would never recommend him.

BJ was incredibly helpful during recent trip to Corolla. He is very responsive, calm and clear. He addressed all of my concerns and gave great legal advice proactively so that I did not need his services during our stay (senior week in OBX). I highly recommend BJ. Thanks for everything.
