Great lawyers..

Got a ticket while on vacation and got back to real life, forgetting about it until a week before my court date. Called Chestnutt & Clemmons and they handled it swiftly, professionally and reasonably. I highly recommend doing the posted speed limit while you are visiting Pine Knoll Shores and highly recommend Chestnutt & Clemmons if you go a bit over. :) -KJ

I’ve never hired a law firm so unorganized. They initially charged me $600 to cover a ticket & they couldn’t even tell me what it was. I didn’t even know I was issued a ticket so I hired them because I need my license in order to work. I’m a full time single father & someone in their office specifically told me they would show up to court on my behalf so I didn’t have to miss work. Well they didn’t! That same afternoon a completely different woman called me & told me I was supposed to be there & that I have to pay an additional $250 to void the warrant for my arrest. Even though they said I didn’t need to be there! Again they couldn’t tell me what the original ticket was for but somehow they came up with a price! Throughout 2-3 months I received multiple calls from them asking for more money. When it was all said & done after they nickel & dimed me to death I paid a total of $1400!!!! Not once did I talk to Lee Bettis I even went to their office & the assistant was obviously lollygagging on her phone & rude to me & an elderly man who just wanted to make payment. After court was settled & everything was so called “good to go”. I was told to go to the dmv & simply renew my license. The dmv directed me BACK to the courthouse & the clerk of court tells me I still have to pay an additional $440!!!!!! If you pay a lawyer $1400, shouldn’t that cover all court costs & fees? I went through a year long custody battle for my daughter & it cost me over $6000. I won full custody & never had ANY additional fees after the fact! It was all included in the 6 grand! I know traffic court & family court are two different scenarios but law firms should still operate the same. I hired The Bettis Law firm & never talked to Lee Bettis. I paid that law firm $1400 & still have to pay $440 to the clerk of court, not including whatever renewal fee the DMV will charge me. If I could sue a lawyer I would. Money is just an object but I use that object to raise my daughter. People say this law firm is the cheapest but cheap prices will get you cheap work. Very disappointed & not happy at all. The Bettis Law Firm is unorganized & can’t tell their lefts from their rights. 100% highly recommend going to someone else. This law firm has no problem taking your money but hey if you want months of miscommunication & additional costs added on then by all means hire them!!
