Paid their office for two court cases. When I first called to pay for the representation, the assistance couldn’t even find my case. The first one was in Pamlico county. I would drive from Onslow county on the days I expected to appear. The first time I called the office after waiting numerous hours for my attorney to show, and they said they sent someone to hold cases until Mr. Kellis appeared. Mr. Kellis never appeared, and the attorney who was supposedly there to represent his cases had my case continued. I did not know it was continued until I was the last person in the court room aside from the judicial officers. Two court dates after that specific court date, my attorney never showed. A year later and the fourth court date later Mr. Kellis showed, and the case was dismissed. The second case was in Craven county. I received a phone call saying I was found “guilty” after I had paid for the attorney fees ($500) and court / community service costs ($125). I originally was told by Mr. Kellis he would work with me with payments, but when I called the office to ask if I could schedule a time to speak with him, they set me up a phone appointment. I called at the time of my phone appointment, in which they said he wasn’t in the office, to call again in 10/15 minutes. So I called the office again, in which the lady was incredibly rude and told me I could not talk to him. I was under the impression that my review for community service to have this case dismissed was at the end of March. I do not have a criminal record. I do have a driving record but have never been charged with anything like a DUI - just infractions. Honestly, Mr. Kellis is good at what he does. Maybe it’s because he’s friends with some of the judges such as Clinton Rowe, or he’s just experienced. However, the communication and the customer service were absolutely garbage. It’s like pulling teeth trying to get to speak with someone worthwhile after the initial consultation. I was treated as though I was nonexistent until I paid - so I paid the legal fees. Expecting it to change (and have the understanding that attorneys are in fact busy), the treatment was still the same by the office staff. Really not worth your time honestly.
