I was told that an attorney that’s wasn’t from the county the ticket was given, couldn’t represent in court. This was my second speeding ticket in NC since I moved from Wisconsin last year. Out of all the attorneys that i received in the mail I chose attorney Jeremy, I called and spoke to him, he kindly guide me through the steps, without having to take a long drive to his office, everything was done through the phone. Pretty straightforward and simple. But I can't shake the feeling that all these North Carolina law firms have a hookup with the local police for the speed traps along that section of highway where the speed limit drops from 75 to 65mph within a few miles therefore getting lots of people caught up. Seems like a good ol' fashioned wild west extortion scheme along the open trail if you ask me.

I received a speeding ticket while driving back from a weeks long job in South Carolina in Johnston County, NC on North 95...bumper to bumper traffic for 15-20 minutes then it opened up and I accelerated to get to normal traffic speed...low and behold, LASER BARNEY behind an overpass said he got me doing 80 in a 65...I said I was doing 76 according to my GPS and he asked what the speedometer read, and I told him 76-77. He said that maybe it needed to be checked (the vehicle only had maybe 650 miles on it since it was a 2019 model and I drove it to SC for the job and was coming back home when I got pulled over). Well in todays world, speeding tickets and negative points on your driving record do not sit well with service companies you work for. So I contacted the Cotton Law Firm, and for a low cost they represented me on my court date (I didn't have to take off time from work) and were able to get the case reduced to Improper Equipment. Yeah need to pay the fine and court costs, but it is better then the 3 years of insurance premiums, points on your driving record and possibly looking for another job. Thank you Jeremy Cotton and your Law Firm, hopefully I won't need your assistance again in NC but if I do, I know whom to contact.
