I filed for social security disability in July 2019 after being very sick with an extremely rare autoimmune disease that is a form of Vasculitis called Granulomatosis with Polyangitis...I know, I never heard of it and no one else I know has either. My life was turned upside down in a matter of months. After trying to work with this condition for about 8 months I just couldn’t keep up. My condition led me to try filing for myself and although I’ve heard most people are denied on their first attempt I thought surely they would know how sick I was and grant me the disability payments to help my struggling finances. Nope, I was denied then I did my own appeal and that was denied as well. At that point was when I found out disability attorneys do not get paid unless they win your case. I called several law firms but when I spoke to Victoria Riddle at Riddle & Brantley I knew that was the firm I would feel most comfortable representing me. I called multiple times and Ms. Riddle was always helpful, patient and kind. I was kept informed on what was happening with my case and although it does take quite a while when dealing with Social Security it was worth the wait. I spoke with my attorney, Mr. Scott Scurfield, a few times just before my hearing date and felt confident going into my hearing. The hearing went well and after 3 weeks I received the letter that I was approved to receive benefits. In all it took 20 months but I believe if I would’ve hired Riddle & Brantley from the beginning it may have saved some time. I would highly recommend Riddle & Brantley to anyone needing an attorney they can trust.

I first want to thank the staff at Riddle & Brantley, LLP, on Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC. From the beginning to present, they have been nothing but professional. Every experience has been a positive one. I can't say enough about Catherine Brewer. She has returned every phone call and never made me feel rushed or like my concerns weren't important. If I ever know anyone who needs an Attorney, I will not hesitate to recommend Riddle & Brantley, LLP. They show professionalism and compassion at it's best. Five stars are not enough to rate the service I received. Catherine Brewer and staff at Riddle & Brantley, LLP, THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

I’ve never had to use an attorney but for just family matters and for business. I chose Riddle and Brantley due to a referral, let’s just say they exceeded my expectations. Very professional, detailed and seem to actually care about my case. Samantha was on point every step of the way. Thank you so much for all you did during my case.

A great firm that really cares about their clients. Gene Riddle could not be more dedicated or work any harder for his clients. He’ll spend as much time as you need making sure you understand what’s going on and what your options are. If you find yourself in the unfortunate situation of needing an attorney, Gene is the one to go to.

I suffered a total loss vehicle crash where the other party was cited in the police report for improper reversing. They reversed into the side of my car.
Riddle and Brantley took my case and the sales person, for want of a better word, came to my house to "sign me up" and put a fair amount of forms in front of me to sign. I was lead to believe I was in safe hands and could trust the process. As I was in a state after the crash I was glad they understood how difficult it was for me.
He also gave me the name of a paralegal who was to become my "new BFF" in his words. He then handed me a card for a chiropractor and said I needed to contact them as soon as I could.
I did contact the chiropractor and after an initial evaluation I asked about costs. They said it would come out of the settlement and the lawyers would pay them out of that amount directly. In the event that I did not win my case I would not incur fees from them and chiropractor did not furnish me with any pricing details.
The other party's insurance, Liberty Mutual, would not pay out to fix my car or compensate me in any way and after 3 months waiting for that decision, I requested that my insurance company took this to an arbitrator. In N.C. if you can be found to be 1% culpable in an accident then a company can deny to pay out on behalf of their driver. I guess my culpability was simply being there! The subsequent arbitrator must have also thought I was 1% culpable for not being able to avoid a car reversing into the side of me! He sided with the other party's insurer.
I did not feel that the 12 week chiropractor treatment plan was necessary, or helped me. I had soft tissue damage and was seeing my own doctor and physiotherapist for those injuries and paid $1100 in co-pays through my medical health insurance.
I was told by Riddle and Brantley staff that "not seeing the chiropractor" wouldn't help my case". I gather someone I was dealing with is no longer at the company.
At this stage I was told by Mr Beecham that he was concerned that the arbitrator had decided against in my insurer's case and, at this now later stage, it could be a detrimental factor if we took my case to court. I would also have to undertake monetary outlays from that time regarding filing the case etc and with no guarantees of a win. It seemed that, from what Mr Beecham said, it could go either way and he asked if I really wanted to put myself through this. (Mr Beecham clearly didn't think it was worth taking my case to court or he would have done so, without asking me to start paying my own court filing costs). This wasn't a huge case but it would have been nice to have recouped my co-pays and to have had justice served.
I am now a nervous driver and suffer flashbacks but that's hard to prove to a judge.
So I decided to drop my case after hearing from, and talking things through with, Mr Beecham.
So......imagine my shock when I was hit with a $2400 chiropractor's bill.
I contacted Mr Beecham and was told that he no longer represented me and that this was between myself and the chiropractor.
Well he most definitely was my lawyer when I was told me to see the chiropractor and when I undertook and completed the treatment. I would never have dropped this case if Riddell and Brantley had seen it through! They decided half way through that they wouldn't pay to take my case to court. They have told the chiropractor that I dropped the case and that I am responsible for the bill. That's being slightly economical with the truth by leaving out all of the details and facts.
In short I am writing this review so other people can be aware of one thing. If you decide not to pursue your case, based on the advice of your lawyer, you may still be responsible for bills from a chiropractor that THEY requested you went to see in the first place!!

I was very pleased with the services I received from Attorney Scurfield and Ms. Brewer. They were friendly and professional at all times. They ensured that I understood the entire process and knew what to expect as we proceeded forward. There is no way I could have gained my full VA benefits without them. I recommend them to anyone seeking VA disability benefits. Thank you guys so much.
