Chapter 7
27 Feb, 2024
I was in a tight spot with medical debts that I could never repay. Our attorney had a ton of clients. He took us on and over a few months, he was able to make it possible for me to retire without losing my home, car, or retirement. He managed to prevent a Chapter 13 and allow for a Chapter 7 to erase all the impossible debt.

Todd Scott was a terrible Guardian Ad Litem (GAL) for my grandmother, who is in her 80s and has dementia. He did not act in her best interest and instead acted on behalf of the person who was abusing her. He was visibly angry several times in court and had a temper tantrum more than once, especially when he lost. He should be ashamed of himself for representing her so poorly when she really needed help. He couldn't care less about the conditions she was living in, which were horrible. He refused to look at the photo evidence and accepted her abuser's lies as truth without a second thought. He even let the abuser sit next to him as though he were representing her! He fought to keep her with someone who was neglecting her and financially abusing her. It was disgusting. After all that she has to pay him too. He should be removed as a GAL for the NC court system. If you are looking for an attorney who uses reason, logic, and acts in your best interest, look somewhere else!!

Our closing on the sale of our house has been so botched up by this firm. So far our calls and texts have not been returned. The closing was supposed to be four days ago and now delayed because they failed to check if the deed of trust was signed by the buyer. We moved out for the new owners and are over five hundred miles away and find out they have neglected to mention that has not been done when it was supposed to be done a week ago .

I understand lawyers are busy people and they have more than one client to remember and rush to meet deadlines but this whole law firm is very unprofessional and slow at getting back in touch with you. My boyfriend had Mr. Scott as his court appointed lawyer, and he never received calls back, 9 times out of 10 he will call the office and nobody will answer and he gets a voicemail that no one will ever return the call...and he has even had a failure to appear to due to the lack of notice because Mr. Scott's office had 'forgotten' to clear that with him by sending a letter by mail. And usually if he did get something for all the times before that stated my boyfriend would need to make an appearance at a said date, it would be very short notice, he would receive the letter on a Friday or Saturday saying he was needed to make the necessary arrangements to appear in court that following Monday.. Which is crazy to let someone know that short of time, especially since we live 45 minutes away from the town where Todd's office and the place of court was being held. And a lot of times you will hear court appointed lawyers aren't all that great and are slack whereas a paid and expensive one is better, but I don't care they all had to go thru law school and take the same classes, get the same degree and whether they are their own firm or based out of a joint firm or court appointed they all have the same job and that is to inform the client of all happenings and dates..it's not only a common courtesy it is their responsibility to make sure their client is 100% satisfied and would have great recommendations in the future.
