If you are currently working with this firm and you have laid out very specific instructions on how your estate is to be handled when you pass, I strongly advise based on experience that you choose another law firm. My father had all of the family affairs in order, documented, provided to this firm, and 7 months after my mother‘s passing, the estate is not settled. It takes an average of one month per task for them to complete any necessary process. And they appear to be unable to complete any tasks simultaneously, by their choice. Yesterday I learned that someone at their office mistakenly destroyed the original copy of my dad’s Will so now late August it has to go to court. Poor communication. No heads up about the certified letter I received and no explanation of course because if you call the office to inquire, they charge it as billable hours. Which is the same reason they appear to be dragging this out. Who will pay for the additional hours to have this issue resolved is yet to be determined. I would say it is them that should incur the cost for the error; however, they are the law firm and have the upper hand. One phrase to describe my experience with this law firm, incompetent money-grabbers. I would recommend putting a clause in your Agreement that states something to the effect that if your estate isn’t settled within 6 months after your death that their fees reduce by 20% on a monthly basis. Hindsight, right?

I took my parents to Estate Planning Attorneys years ago but they didn’t execute any of the recommended actions. Fast forward to my mom getting Alzheimer's and needing a nursing home. Estate Planning became crisis planning as their money was quickly being eaten up by the nursing home expenses. Tim Moore and his Team executed a plan to preserve more of their assets than we thought would be possible. It gave my dad some peace of mind when he thought all he and my mom had worked so hard to save for their kids would be lost. I continued to meet with Tim throughout the years and he was able to guide me through the hurdles, including my dad eventually going into a nursing home. I’ve recommended Bixler Moore to many people over the years. Some at the beginning stages of Estate Planning and some that were in the unfortunate position of Estate Planning in crisis mode. Tim has such a calming presence and he and his team are professional, experienced, and caring. We appreciate them so much.
