Cons
1
Some clients have experienced unprofessional and rude behavior from the staff, including being hung up on or treated dismissively
“She answered and did not address where i was calling into and very nasty said 'hold' then when she came back on the line she very short and said 'where do you want to go' i said can i please explain what my issue is so you can point me in the right direction. She said 'she does not have time for that bc she has 16 callers ahead of me' and before i could say anything she transferred my call somewhere.”
2
There have been instances where clients felt that Legal Aid was not advocating for them or was more aligned with the opposing party (e.g., landlords)
“She seemed more representing of my landlord then me. When i explained the behavior to her supervisor it was said she was a good attorney. Talking about accountability.”
3
Some clients have experienced difficulty getting in touch with their assigned attorneys, with calls and messages not being returned
“I seeked help here from an attorney, and she hasn't returned one of my phone calls, and it has been 2 weeks. She could at least tell me that they can't take my case. Very unprofessional.”
