These are attorneys who actually care

TLDR; Ken at el will treat you like a human, not a dollar sign. They're local so they're familiar with, and adaptable to, conditions here in Ohio both legal and personal. They're honest and focused on helping you. In seven years I only talked money once and that was during my first in-person consult to retain their services, If you're looking for quality local attorneys to represent you contact them! -- I have tried to file for SSDI/SSI several times on my own. I had given up hope that I'd get approved even though I knew my conditions were eligible. A few ago I saw a commercial with Ken Karlock and one of his business partners, Julie Hall, advertising a LOCAL lawyer to help me get the benefits I was due. My initial consultation was with Julie who was pleasant and understanding of my concerns and troubles getting approved. A few days later I received a call from Ken letting me know that he would be taking on my case and we set up a meeting to discuss the payment structure and sign release of information papers so he could start right away. Within 6 months of retaining Ken the SSA had me seeing their doctors and the proverbial ball started rolling. I felt hopeful for the first time in ages. The ALJ I was assigned is known to be hard on cases and denied my requests time and time again (three times and one continuance). Ken never stopped fighting. He never told me I was too much of a burden nor did he ever talk down to or treat me with disrespect. If I couldn't reach Ken I could get through to his paralegal Krista who has since started a new adventure of her own. Knowing I had a team of people to reach with any question I had during my ordeal was important. I never dialed an 800 number. I never e-mailed a generic intake inbox. I was never just a case number because I had Ken and his team. The payment agreement is 25% or $6,000 (at the time of my retainer), but we never discussed this after my first meeting. Ken never made me feel like a meal ticket or paycheck. He gave me his undivided attention and through the entire seven year journey was the only person to give me the respect I deserved. Ken does not see you as a dollar sign nor does he treat you as such. Only now, over 7 years later, have we begun to discuss how payments are calculated and disbursed. You matter to them on an individual level. Ken is based in Ohio so he knows the ALJs here and is able to prepare you for the type of personality you're likely to encounter. What this meant for me was knowing how to prep myself to respond to negative or positive questions appropriately. Without going in to the specifics of my case I had five total hearings (Four hearings and one continuance), and three Appeals Council vacate and remand orders which ultimately saw an assignment of a new ALJ. Ken stuck it through and never made me feel discouraged. He answered all questions in a timely manner and never got annoyed when I asked the same questions in different ways to better understand and retain the information. The length of time to win my case had nothing to do with Ken. My particular case is complex and spans multiple rule changes. Now that we won I'm finding myself grieving a bit because Ken really put in a lot to help me when many others have given up. I can not stress enough how well your case will be handled. Give them a call or email them. Meet them at least once. You'll be pleased with how personalized your case treatment is. A local lawyer is always better than an out of state representative group who may or may not even assign a lawyer to your case. Bonus? Ken used to be an ALJ so he really knows the ins and outs of how best to present your case.

Don't waste your time with this firm. I filled out the form on their website and got no response, called them and left my name and number and was told someone would call back and got no response, called again and answered some questions this time and was scheduled an over the phone consultation and you guessed it! they didn't call! wasted 3 weeks of my appeal time waiting on these incompetent people.
