The representation I received from McKinlay Law Offices was of the highest quality. Amy is the consummate professional. She is smart, responsive and thorough. Amy takes her role as an advocate for her client's best interests very seriously. She took time to answer all of my questions and to reassure me that we were moving in the right direction toward resolution. Divorce is difficult, but Amy helped to make it as smooth and expeditious as possible. It was clear to me that Amy has the respect of her peers in the domestic relations field; this helped me as her client because opposing counsel knew that Amy was not going to agree to anything that wasn't in my best interest. Amy's decades of experience in domestic relations meant that she was able to give me a "roadmap" of what to expect in a process that is often frightening and intimidating. Her strong and steady guidance gave me piece of mind. As the ultimate measure of my respect for her work, I have referred many of my friends to Amy for representation. I cannot recommend Amy and her team at McKinkay Law Offices highly enough.

I could not be more disappointed in the representation from this office. If you have a simple case and just need someone to review a standard agreement, perhaps they can help. If, however, the divorce is going to be contested (especially in Delaware County), I implore you to choose different representation. Here are some examples of why...
- I still have the first estimate Amy gave me for what she thought was "worst case" payments for child and spousal support. The temporary orders were more than twice that estimate. I was advised that "temporary orders are just temporary". Well, it took over 2.5 years to finish the process, and the final verdict is still nearly twice her "worst case estimate". I will point out the final verdict is also far worse than the court appointed Guardian ad Lidem had estimated, so yes - the magistrate practiced some questionable math. Which leads me to the second point...
- Amy passed me off to her associate Kerry, because she was cheaper. Both Amy and Kerry are personable, but Kerry was not effective in questioning myself or my ex during the trial process. This left many gray areas where clearer answers would have helped the magistrate come to a more reasonable judgment. On more than one occasion, I was told the opposing lawyer was either committing malpractice, or in some other way was offending the magistrate (which would presumably help in the final verdict). That clearly was not the case.
- Finally, I never got an apology or acknowledgment that the initial estimate was grossly inaccurate, or apology for lack of skill in the court appearances. I have gave Kerry specific points where she could have interjected or redirected the case. She didn't respond.
Divorce isn't easy on anyone. Your legal representation is critical. I went to Amy because she was recommended by a friend who had a much easier case. If your case is at all contested, good luck.

I was ready to begin my citizenship application when I ran into some trouble. I went to many immigration lawyers and the only one who had the knowledge and expertise was Gus. Him and his very talented team helped me to properly navigate the process which was not easy due to the trouble I ran into. His recommendations were not what I wanted to hear but I followed them because they brought the knowledge, experience and a peace of mind that everything was going to be ok. I became a citizen because of them!

My experience with The Law Firm of Shihab and Associates has been nothing short of outstanding. Even though my case was primarily handled by Attorneys Kozyra and Shihab, everybody that I interacted with (from the receptionist to their accountant) were exceptionally nice and professional.
I found out about Attorney Shihab’s firm through a common acquaintance that used their services in the past. I was in a very desperate situation, with my J-1 visa expiring within a year and subject to the Two-Year Foreign Residence Requirement 212(e). My plan was to request a waiver to the two-year rule and later apply for a Green Card since I am married to a US citizen. At the time, I had already met with a different immigration lawyer. However, I felt very uncertain with the counseling I was receiving. After talking with Attorney Shihab for 15-20 minutes I realized how oblivious my first lawyer was, at least regarding my case in particular. Needless to say, I switched law firms that very same day and my journey with Shihab and Associates started.
The next couple of meetings, Attorney Shihab introduced me to Attorney Kozyra and together we designed the best action plan based on my situation/needs. Something that I really appreciate is that since the beginning they were always very honest, straightforward and patient. They covered the pros and cons of every possible route and answered all my questions while we were trying to come up with the plan. In addition, they were very kind; our meetings will always start with some small talk and they always gave me reassurance when necessary. They also worked super fast; the time that it takes them to create and submit a case depends almost completely on how long it takes the client to submit the necessary paperwork. There are specific requirements (e.g. medical/physical exams, physiological opinions, among others) that might delay your submission time, since it will depend on how fast you can request an appointment. But as soon as I gave them everything that was requested, they called me within days to sign the forms and submit the case. Even after submission, they always stayed in touch with me either following the status of the case or answering questions.
Finally, actions speak louder than words. My first lawyer told me my chances of obtaining the waiver were close to zero, and he even went to the extend of telling me that I was “lying to the US government” since I got married and planned to stay in the US. Today, I can say that my waiver was GRANTED thanks to the time and expertise Attorneys Shihab and Kozyra dedicated to my case. We just finished working on my Green Card application and I am 100% confident my case is in the best hands.

Shihab is realistic and helpful . He explained what to expect as a result of my case , communication with his office was prompt and he contacted me on several occasions (something you don't get from most lawyers). I'm happy that I chose him to represent me and will definitely recommend him to my friends and everyone else

I could take time and describe all, what attorney Shihab did for my wife's legal case, but it would take too long (trust me, a very good story for contemporary novel).Instead, I just would like to say - If you like to have attorney who is extremely professional and supportive throughout all process, law firm of Shihab & Associates is your place to be. Thank you, for help and guidelines during every step of long process, which started from hopeless bottom of immigration abyss and ended with Naturalization ceremony. Thank you !!!!
