I've been trying to contact this company for weeks about my money they are holding in escrow. I've left several messages with them and not once have they called me back. They are quick to take your money but don't want to give it back. Looks like I need to get a lawyer involved now due to consistent incompetence of this want to be company. Avoid them like the plague. And regardless of my property previously being bank owned, I know they received the letter to release my funds December 5 2018. This is sheer laziness on their part. All I asked for was a phone call.

Thieves and liars. Netta made up some story that I had 300 dollars in unpaid water bills and that she would have to hold that amount from the sale. I sent my attorney in and she coughed up the money right away.

There should be a zero star option. The buyer of my home had a FHA loan and because of this my money was held in escrow because the FHA inspector felt the garage needed to be scraped and painted along with another ridiculous issue. At the time of closing the woman from Barristers had no clue the money was to be held in escrow. We brought it to her attention, but she basically blew us off and blamed someone else. It wasn't until the buyers closing that the escrow was addressed again and then I had to sign an addendum. The FHA upgrades were completed in April and the FHA inspector would not sign off due to paint chips that were embedded in the dirt. The buyers attempted to clean them up..the inspector went out 4 times. It wasn't until after the 3rd inspection that we were told that WE were going to be charged 125.00 every time the inspector went out. Because we were not told about this fee we fought the fees and they waived them. I sent emails and left numerous voicemails to several people with no response other than an email from Jean stating she was a disinterested 3rd party..funny she wasn't disinterested when they held my money. She has caller ID and will pick up the phone and hang up . It took 4 months to get my money from escrow. I will never use Howard Hanna or Barristers and I tell everyone I know how absolutely horrible their customer service is and how inept they are!!

Would give less than one star if able. The entire process was messed up, wrong address on numerous papers even after being corrected numerous times, info wasn't sent, surprise fees at closing. Best is they have my hold payment for final bills which they did not pay, were late, and now won't refund me. When I called to talk to Karen she hung up on me after I explained I was on active duty and about to deploy. Never use this company.

Used Barristers when I sold my home and everything went smoothly and on schedule. Fees were less than the title company I dealt with to purchase my new home.

Have tens of thousands trapped in the escrow no Reference number, no account number provided, no explanation or a path to get the money out. just silence. Do not use this company, i know Howard Hanna will tel you this is who you should go withe but don't! just pick anyone else from the phone book you will be better off. Look at other reviews!.

Barristers <> Smooth Transition One of the primary purposes of a title company is to make sure things go smoothly. In my case, Barristers dropped the ball, over and over again: From communicating to my lender, to communicating within their own staff, to communicating with me, to having the correct people at the closing table. My suggestion is to use someone else.

Absolutely worst experience. They couldn't meet a deadline and delayed the closing on my house. The house was supposed to close at 3p and that same day they were still scrambling to get things done which caused the delay. I would not recommend them to anyone.

Barristers is the absolute WORST Title Company I have ever dealt with. If I could rate them a "zero" than i would. Recently I paid cash to purchase my parents dream home for them, unfortunately Howard Hanna and Barristers has turned it into a nightmare. I specifically told the realtor to have Patriot Title do the title work, but the agent at Howard Hanna pulled a fast one and changed the paperwork to have Barristers do it when my parents were signing the paperwork, They were so excited and nervous to finally get their dream home that they didn't even realize it. I am an investor that buys a few houses every year so I know the process and fees very well. This was a simple cash transaction with no contingencies, no home inspections, and no concessions that should have taken no more than 2 weeks to close. Unfortunately the agents at Barristers have no idea what they are doing and kept delaying the closing date over and over again, but each time they blamed on it the seller which turned out to be a blatant lie that cost my parents and myself extra money and unnecessary stress. It ended up taking 50 days for them to close a simple cash deal. Then on the day they showed up to sign the final papers the title company didn't have the paperwork ready and asked them to sign an "estimated" closing deal. I have bought and sold a lot of houses in the last 10 years, but I have never heard of a title office being this incompetent, lazy, disrespectful, with no communication, and on the closing date not showing up prepared at all. I would NOT recommend Barrister or Howard Hanna to anyone for a real estate transaction. These are two of the worst companies I have ever dealt with.
