My case was what I call difficult. First, I live in Washington, DC, but the issue was originally filed, long distance in Cleveland, Ohio in 1989. Second, the legal issue regarding a QDRO and divorce decree was more than 30 years old. Third, there were limited records for a just amount to be paid to me. Fourth, my former husband’s initial offer to me was very low, which I knew was unfair. I retained Attorney Sarah English of John J. Ready and Associates, a skilled family law attorney, to assist in enforcing the divorce decree and QDRO. Thanks to her tenacity and expertise in family law, we were able to retrieve the necessary documents and perform a thorough analysis of the accounts leading to a positive outcome. She reassured me that I had a case, but also that it would take time. I worked with her from November 2022 through May 2024, navigating the complex court system and negotiating with my former husband and his attorney. Waited over a week, left work early, to have a phone conversation with John, 6 minutes in I was actually yelled at “hold on” 12 consecutive times like I’m slow and didn’t understand it the first time, quickly realized I was wasting my time. You probably shouldn’t waste yours.
