When finding oneself in dire need, there are a few qualities which are indispensable in those to whom you turn for help. These might include the ability to listen carefully and value everything you say, or knowing the difference between honesty and cynicism, or understanding that being realistic doesn't always mean downplaying important issues due to their difficulty. Finding an attorney who knows the law is one thing, but finding one who can go beyond theories and book knowledge and get things done in the real world is something else entirely.
