This attorney also sits as a referee judge in circuit court in Pendleton. She not suited for this position. She is biased when it comes to pro se litigants and leans towards the litigant with an attorney. Even when evidence is provided she will abuse her discretion and not accept it even when its within the legal time limits. Does not allow pro se litigants a chance to defend themselves, ask questions like an attorney does, and assumes you are lazy and did not seek out legal guidance.

Joanna handled my divorce. She really negotiated well the terms and got in the face of my ex's lawyer when my ex was being unreasonable. Her negotiation skills are amazing. She kept in communication with me and my ex's lawyer the whole time. Everybody walked away a winner. I like that, she doesn't make one sided deals, what we offered was in everybody's best interest, so it was always hard for the opposition to refuse reasonable stuff. I loved working with her and will have her represent me anytime for future legal matters.

If you are appointed as a client of Joanna Marikos, save yourself - request another lawyer. She seems to have no interest in her clients - in fact, she just seemed irritated with me. Her courtroom manner is compliant, and there is no creativity in representation of the Law - any law, fir that matter. I'm in jail because of everything she didn't do.
Just request another lawyer - there are some good state representitives, I just didn't get one.

Although an apparently savvy business woman, Joanna Marikos is less than aggressive in matters handled for me. She seemed to initiate and advise on processes but not follow up or keep me informed. I prefer aggressive representation, and Ms. Marikos may be adequate in her knowledge of rules, her follow up is flacid and lacklustre.
