Attorney Heidi Sherman really helped me during a time of transition in my personal life. I needed to find the most suitable option in our parenting plan and her legal guidance clarified many of the questions I’ve had had for months. She jumped right into my case and while I was hoping that my case could settled through mediation, we ended up preparing to represent me in court. I appreciate that she is experienced, very direct, knowledgeable, calm and responsive. She kept me informed about the progress, redrafted our parenting plan and surfaced some of my legal rights that I’ve forgotten about. I am very appreciative of her professionalism and work ethics.

Very nice and helpful understood are urgency

I originally found Heidi Sherman at Jill Brittle Law as communication was breaking down severely between my ex and me. We were already divorced but needed to renegotiate the parenting plan which had been poorly written years prior. This spun out into a custody issue and after a year of trying to do it myself I engaged Heidi. She was always very prompt in her response time and always very up front with me about what was important to focus on and what was not. She often told me things I didn't want to hear, yet needed to hear. Going through these situations is some of the most stressful times ever and at least with Heidi helping me, I felt like there was "an adult in the room," and I wasn't left alone in a heated battle. She was able to calm my nerves when needed and even though it took entirely too long (100% due to stalling tactics on the opposing side), in the end we did not go to court and settled with most of the case in my favor. I would have liked a bit more guidance when negotiating the child support, though I blame myself for not being speaking up more in that area. All in all, Heidi is intelligent, compassionate and firm when needed. I would recommend her for divorce and child custody disputes.

Heidi was extremely diligent and organized when representing me in my divorce. I valued her insightful direction and appreciate that she didn’t over promise in the process as many other firms did during initial consultations. She played devils advocate as I contemplated how to best reach a settlement agreement, which was very helpful in arriving at what was fair and realistic. If you hope to dissolve your marriage with a grounded, honest and thoroughly competent attorney who will shoot you straight and help you navigate through the process with integrity then I’d easily recommend Heidi. Her supporting staff was very helpful and competent as well. Opposing council was so incompetent that I believe without Heidi’s professionalism and diligence we would easily have had a longer than necessary and even more stressful process. Thank you for all that you did to facilitate and support me in this dark season, Heidi!
