This is a review of services provided by Attorney David Lutz and his assistant Stefanie Whitaker of the law firm of HHR. Although longer than normally desired, in order to comprehensively express the value of their services, it is essential to describe the rational supporting this review. If you are in a situation requiring the services of counsel, it is likely no small matter, and I urge you to take the time to read on. Whenever entering into an implied or explicit contractual agreement, I have found two factors to be of paramount importance – competency and trust. This holds true whether involving a doctor, auto mechanic, housing contractor or financial planner. Each of these individuals can have a profound health, safety and/or monetary impact on the lives of you and your family. This applies equally to when you require the services of a lawyer, whether involving estate planning or a significant event requiring legal counsel and representation. There are a variety of approaches to assess competency. Past performance, reputation, references and reviews, are among some of the options that can provide a reliable measure of anticipated performance. Trust, however, is a much more abstract quality to assess. Yet it is extremely important whenever entering into any potentially “high stakes” agreement – issues having potentially significant impact involving the health, safety or financial stability. There are adequate available competent entities for these types of services, but it is difficult and unsettling to enter into any agreement or relationship involving matters of such importance without a feeling of trust. Trust is very personal and it involves a relationship. This was the situation when an event our lives required the counsel and services of a lawyer. It was not an arena that either my wife or I had much experience (in fact very little), but the stakes involved the capability of addressing future challenges that will have implications on life quality for myself and my family. Having someone competent, that we could trust, to represent and counsel us in this matter could not change what happened, but it could make a significant difference in meeting the resulting challenges that exist, will continue to exist, and will almost certainly continue to expand. David Lutz and Stefanie Whitaker were the individuals we worked with at HHR. We found both to be knowledge and professional. David laid out each step of the process, describing and counseling us on options. He answered all questions patiently and thoroughly, and provided helpful recommendations concerning our options. Requested information was provided to make informed decisions, but the decisions were always ours. Stephanie was equally helpful throughout the process assuring that information flowed between parties. She kept us up to date with status and progress, coordinated actions or information required from us, assisting us when needed or requested. Beyond the services delivered by David and Stefanie, was how they were provided. This is where the highly valued trust was evident. The professional, genuine and caring approach they both provided, resulted in a comforting trust. Trust is an intangible component of any relationship, business or personal, that is highly valued, provides profound peace of mind, and makes the partnership productive. This relationship as much personal as business, and the trust developed rapidly. The trust was well placed. In the end both David and Stephanie looked out for interests and needs staunchly, resulting in a very satisfactory and comforting outcome. Neither David nor Stephanie could ever change what has happened. They have, however, provided a means with which I will be much better situated to meet the challenges that will most certainly come, helping assure the future quality of the lives of myself and family, and the comfort the I will have resources to prevent becoming a future burden to my wife and family.
