My wife and I decided in December, 2021 that it was time to progress from our simple wills to a more detailed estate plan. We knew that we wanted to engage a reputable law firm instead of downloading simple "fill in" forms provided by a number of on-line companies promising "complete" estate planning services. Unfortunately, we didn't know where to start. We needed trusted counsel for selecting an attorney. During a meeting with our financial adviser to discuss the annual review of our financial plan, we asked him if he could recommend a law firm to develop an estate plan for us. She asked us about our priorities; specifically about how we wanted to provide for our adult daughter at our passing. She explained the different types of wills and trusts that could be developed, answered every one of our many questions in terms that we could understand, and stated the fees that would be involved depending on the path we would choose. By the end of the meeting we knew exactly where we stood and the direction we needed to take. We were also very pleased that we had selected the Zihmer Law Firm. With Tracy's direction and constant support, we were able to provide her with the data she needed to produce a draft of our estate plan and our Last Will and Testament documents. She guided us through a few tweaks to the draft of the estate plans in order to finalize the process and to decide upon a family trustee and a corporate trustee for the estate. I believe our estate plan and other documents were ready for our signatures in about ten days after our approval of the final drafts. Working with Tracy proved to be a professional, yet warm experience. She has true empathy for making sure that the surviving spouse and especially our daughter (when the time comes), will have minimal difficulty during a stressful time. We are grateful to Tracy for her outstanding expertise and ability to keep us at ease during the entire process. It was truly wonderful to work with her and her firm. She also conducted a webinar for her clients to explain all the ramifications of estate planning and she just completed a downloadable book for her clients to consult for further understanding of estate planning.
