My husband and I had our wills, living wills and POAs done at Cordes Law in 2022. I was referred by family. We were so happy with our experience that we always recommend them to our friends!

In 2023, a difficult family issue prompted me to call and schedule an appointment with Andrew. He was recommended to me by a friend, an attorney, who used Cordes for her own estate planning. Carrie is lovely and made sure I was comfortable before the start of my consultation. Andrew listened and asked questions to be sure he understood my issue and concerns. He offered insightful advice as well as an overview of possible solutions and potential outcomes. He then gave me the space to decide which avenue to pursue. Overall, I found Cordes welcoming. Andrew is easy to talk to and I didn’t feel rushed. He made sure I had the information needed to do what was best for me.

Working with Cordes Law made such a very difficult time a lot more smother and easier for us to navigate the Estate process. If not for their knowledge and guidance I don't know how we would have gotten through it all. Joanne is absolutely the kindest most knowledgeable professional and a joy to work with.

If you’re considering Cordes Law for your estate planning needs, I apologize in advance for the lengthy review but I promise it’s worth the read to make an informed decision. When you do your research, consider the role that the firm you hire may play in the administration of your estate after you pass. I’m sharing my very poor experience with Cordes Law before you subject your loved ones to the same potential grief after you’re no longer here. My father retained this firm to create his estate plan and administer it after his passing. Unfortunately my dad died suddenly in 2020, which as you can imagine was a very tragic and traumatizing event for those he left behind. Sadly our grief was worsened by our experience with Cordes Law. Cordes Law was retained to provide a variety of estate services related to the execution of my father’s will (including the inheritance he left to my sister and me), necessary legal filings with the county / state, taxes, etc. Maybe my expectations are off, but one would think that these services include taking the time to ensure that his beneficiaries (i.e. children) are well informed about the process, what to expect, or even what exactly was left for them. Would you want the law firm you retain to do those things or at least ensure that they happen after you’re gone? Over the course of a year after my father passed, I received a grand total of two communications from Cordes Law: 1) A letter mandated by Pennsylvania law simply stating that an account had been left to me (not even what was in it) and verifying my contact information 2) Over a year later, a letter asking me to sign off on the amount being distributed to close the estate Did they ever reach out to express condolences and explain their role? Nope. Did they ever reach out to explain the will, or even share a copy of it? Nope. Did they even attempt to explain the estate settlement / probate process and what to expect? Nope. Did I receive a call or anything other than those two letters for over a year? Nope. As a matter of fact, they couldn’t even get that right as they actually sent me the wrong person’s documents to sign. Even worse, when it came time to distribute the inheritance, the documentation mailed out asked us to sign off on the amount and waive our rights related to the estate, while being devoid of any information that would allow us to even know that $(a very large amount) was deducted in fees and taxes. I only determined this when I reached out to at least informally account for the inheritance before signing the paperwork - because, you know, that seems like the prudent thing to do before you waive your rights. And when I simply asked questions about all of the fees and taxes that were deducted? I was met with a rude reminder that such questions would cost my inheritance in hourly legal fees. That if I didn’t sign the paperwork they would proceed with a separate legal process that would cost $(another very large amount) out of the inheritance. I never said anything about not being willing to sign the paperwork - I simply had some questions about the fees and taxes before I did, which was apparently offensive to the lawyer that I would do such a thing. And thankfully I did dig deeper as I discovered an error to the tune of $(yet another very large amount). Please consider this before you retain Cordes Law. Do you want a firm that shows empathy towards your loved ones after you pass? That communicates proactively, accurately and with compassion? That is willing to answer any questions that they might have during a very difficult time regarding a very difficult subject? In my experience, Cordes Law failed miserably in all regards.
