Miriam was recommended to me by a good friend that worked under her while in law school. The prospect of my collecting anything seemed slim at the outset. I was hit by a car while riding my bike and the car took off. I had significant injuries to my face and head. I didn't think there was anything I could do in this situation, but my friend insisted and I went to see Miriam. She listened to all of the specifics and was very honest in her assessment of what to expect, which was little. That did not stop her and her assistant from chipping away day after day, week after week. They would get in touch with me whenever they needed more information or my signatures for the release of documents, but otherwise handled everything. Very professional, caring and competent. After a number of months (this amount of time was due to my sometimes unresponsive nature) she had established a line of communication and a compelling argument for collection from the uninsured motorist clause of my mother's automotive insurance. At this point, the gentleman representing the insurance company wanted to conduct a phone interview with Miriam and myself. She walked me through this process, with pre-interview counseling and conducted the entire interview on speaker phone, stepping in when she felt it was in my best interest. A few days later she got an offer for a substantial portion of the injury limit. She gave me the pros and cons of accepting the offer and her professional judgement as to whether accepting this offer would leave money on the table. I asked her to counter offer, which she did with apparent skill and we settled for 96% of limit of the insurance. If you find yourself injured, you'd be doing yourself a serious disservice not to use Miriam. She won't leave a stone unturned in making sure you get reimbursement for your damages.

Miriam Barish represented my Mother in a case where her foot got stuck in a defective pavement, causing her to fall. She broke her femur, and also had major bruising on her face. We felt that Miriam was very compasionate, and did a great job handling her case. She always returned calls and e-mails, and kept us both informed as the case progressed. Ms Barish represented me for settlement following a severe motorcycle accident, of which I was not at fault. The settlement was resolved in less than two years under difficult circumstance.
