I have had the opportunity to work with Attorney McDonald on several occasions. Most recently, he represented an Estate where I had the home listed for sale. Attorney McDonald exhibited the highest level of professionalism involving all aspects of this transaction. His communication with all parties was immediate and decisive. I was always able to reach him and/or his knowledgeable staff immediately. Attorney McDonald exhibited genuine concern regarding the Estate and his responsibilities to them. I have worked with many Attorneys in the Pocono area during the past 29 years practicing real estate, and I have found Attorney Joseph McDonald to be one of the most considerate and knowledgeable. He has always fulfilled his professional responsibilities. I strongly recommend his honest and ethical services to anyone in need of hiring an Attorney.

Needed to utilize a lawyer for a real estate transaction, conferred with the attorney and explained in detail, provided maps, lot number, book, page, draft sales agreement everything required for a smooth and simple transaction. The transaction included 10 lots and a house/garage. The transaction was to be in 2 parts one was part of an estate and the other was outright sale but both to the same buyer.
McDonald provided a quotation of $1000 and required a deposit of $250 which was sent immediately. There was much internal confusion / lack of communication from his staff. As part of the agreement with the buyer it was to close in 30 days. The office waited until the last minute to get it together and did not communicate with the buyer as expected. They never sent any letters, email phone calls to the buyer letting them know what to bring to the closing. Needless to say only half of the transaction happened. So I wanted to cancel the other half of the deal since the buyer did not come through with the funds.
In conferring with McDonald he wants to send a letter to them notifying them the deal is off and charge me $500 to do so. Which I found totally absurd since he never even communicated with them initially.
The firm is small and short staffed and the internal communications if very bad, the left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing. Long story short, I finally got all the property sold and after almost 2 months.
To top it off he “took the liberty” of taking his fees out of the proceeds and sent the balance.
I have worked with attorney’s all my working career and have been involved in contracts, sales agreement, etc. and this was my worst experience ever.
