John is the consummate professional. As an attorney, he represents the very best in the profession. His passion is refreshing in a world where many other lawyers seem burnt out of like their clients are a bother to them. John never treats his clients like they are merely names on a piece of paper. He always makes time for the people he represents and is always working hard to get the results his clients need. I have always been impressed with the respect he seems to have from other lawyers who would be his competitors. To me that shows that he is well-respected among his peers and his clients. In a world where competition is stiff, John seems to stand out among most of the others lawyers I’ve seen.

I highly recommend John Grasso. Very few lawyers have the brains and ability to get good results for the clients but John is one of the good ones. I appreciate his no-nonsense approach to his cases and his willingness to stand up for his clients. His passion for his work is evident and is something that is sorely lacking in many others these days. John is the go to guy in Rhode Island!

I have personally dealt with Attorney Grasso in many capacities throughout the last decade. He has assisted me in many ways with his knowledge and experience in criminal justice and Title IX issues - knowledge and experience that, in my opinion, surpasses that of that vast majority of attorneys working in those fields. I have always known him to be a complete professional, a straight-shooter and one whose opinions and conclusions which I could trust. There are few attorneys that I would ever recommend to anyone, but I can say, without any reservation whatsoever, that you will be in good hands with John as your attorney. His track record speaks for itself. He has been able to achieve remarkable results for his clients and that is well-known to those in the legal field. He is universally respected throughout the legal community for his thoughtfulness, ability to get positive results for clients, and his trustworthiness- all part of a reputation that any lawyer would be thrilled to have. If you want a lawyer that will fight for you from beginning to end and be an effective and zealous advocate, I highly recommend John to you.

If I could give zero stars I would. As a victim in a case, I hired John Grasso to advocate on my behalf because I knew my perpetrator was politically connected and would be leveraging his family’s clout to pressure the AG’s office into dropping the charges(which is exactly what happened.) Instead of proactively putting counter pressure on the prosecutor, John sat back complacently and did nothing to try to preempt the malfeasance transpiring behind the scenes. He waited to be contacted and simply passed along information to me, usually at late hours of the day when my questions could no longer be answered. When I implored him to be more aggressive or to ask specific questions to the prosecutor, he often refused and even responded condescendingly like I was a bother to him and seemed more concerned with being a nuisance to the assistant AG than being a defender of me—his client. However, his laissez-faire attitude was the least of his offenses. During our meeting with the Chief of the Criminal Division of the Attorney General’s Office to discuss how and why they threw out the State Police’s charges, John Grasso showed himself to be absolutely unprofessional and unethical. Apparently he did not approve of my tough line of questioning, so he abruptly stopped the meeting by standing up, castigating and berating me like a parent would a child telling me I was being rude by asking too many questions and not “listening” enough. He yelled at me that, “we had to go,” utterly humiliating me in front of the very man who was actually in the wrong and was putting my life in danger by allowing my victimizer to terrorize me with impunity because of corruption of the very institution that was supposed to be protecting me. This was NOT acceptable behavior by an attorney whom I had paid to work for me. If he disagreed with my tenor, he could have privately talked to me after the meeting concluded even though, frankly, it wasn’t his place to give me his opinion. I didn’t hire him to critique me. Overall, I would strongly caution anyone looking for a lawyer, to steer clear of Mr. Grasso. There are so many other competent attorneys in this state who would NEVER betray their client the way he did me. What an unscrupulous, dishonorable, obnoxious, disrespectful man and a pathetically ineffective counsel. I cannot imagine the damage he could have inflicted if I had been a vulnerable person who had entrusted him for representation as a defendant in a case. He should be sanctioned by the Bar Association.

A few months ago my husband and I were dealing with criminal charges. We desperately started searching for the best lawyer to get the case dismissed. My husband being a permant resident, we were extremely scared of possible deportation. After interviewing a few lawyers in our area, we instantly felt peace of mind with John Calcagni and hired him. I've dealt with John & his firm for over 5 yrs. He's got me through two cases both state and federal with great outcomes. Ive also referred them to other people and are more then happy with there own experience. The firms communication and professionalism is amazing even on a weekend John never missed a phone call. I've never had to ask for case documents or court date reminders because they stay on top of everything John unlike other lawyers ive encountered is not one that you have to chase around for information. He is very knowledgeable ,honest ,direct and does not sugar coat anything. Nicki his paralegal is nothing but the best very friendly and always willing to help. Five Stars is not a high enough rating for John and his team. He and his team are thorough, quick to respond, and provided sound counsel on military related administrative hearings. John was personally vested into my case and helped me get the results desired. I would strongly recommend his counsel for anyone in the Army.
