I met Mark Heffner at a caregiver conference held by RI Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association in 2016. He gave a presentation on estate and Medicaid planning. He was very knowledgeable, spoke in terms that non-legal professionals could understand, and was very empathetic to those of us dealing with a loved one with Alzheimer’s/dementia. Later in 2016 my family began working with Mark and his team- Bill Jamieson, Jackie Grinnell, and Jennifer Waterman. Everything that Mark said at the conference is exactly how he has handled my parents and our family’s situation. They have assisted us with powers of attorney, wills, a trust, and Medicaid planning. When my parents- one with Alzheimer’s and the other with dementia have participated in our meetings, they have been treated with compassion and respect. When I call or email with questions or concerns, they are quick to respond and provide answers. We are very happy to be working with Mark and his staff!

Their advice and guidance through the whole process of setting up a trust and the utilization of the trust was 100% professional. A key to setting up the trust was making my parents comfortable with their decisions and Mark provided that comfort level right from our first visit. The level of knowledge about the healthcare system was invaluable to my Mom being able to stay in her home when my Dad had to move to a nursing home.
