Mary and her paralegal, Kami are absolutely amazing on keeping me up to date and helped me every step of the way. After discovering our first attorney had done almost no work with one month before a custody trial, we visited two other attorneys. After 5 minutes with Mary Murray we knew we had found the attorney we needed. With almost no time to prepare (and a lot of great help from her assistant Kami), Mary put together a case that resulted in us obtaining permanent custody of a grandchild. My personal experience with Mary Murray began when I was beyond frustrated after interviewing several attorneys who wouldn’t listen to my personal needs and I felt alone. Mary met with me on short notice and allowed me to explain my situation. I felt like she truly listened and provided me with the opportunity to make sense of the situation I was facing and made suggestions based on her expertise. From the very beginning, Mary, Kami and I connected and I felt that her values and personality matched what I needed to guide me through the tumultuous year. Obviously, divorce is a very emotional time and she was mindful of my feelings and my son’s needs. She was quick to explain how she could be of assistance and her recommended approach. Mary took control of my situation when I was undoubtedly trying to manage myself and my son's personal affairs. Mary and Kami both are strong women who demonstrate a level of professionalism with a compassion for their clients—knowing that they are on "my team" allows me time to work on my personal healing and they handle the legal details. I always feel like Mary has my best interest at the center of her approach even when I am uncertain—her attitude helped me find my backbone and restored my personality that I had been stolen from me during a bad marriage.

She started out by agreeing to handle my divorce and custody and accepted my money. A month goes by she had yet to contact my ex's attorney to give notice that she was representing me. So she does this and contacts ex's attorney. Ex's attorney responds to her letter ASAP (within 2 days) and she never shares this with me. Not only that but another 4 months pass without any communication with me. I then called her office to see if I owed any money (never received an invoice!) or what the deal was. Paralegal, Kami, says she will ask Marry and call me back. Another 4 days pass and I send Mary an email asking what the problem is and why she hasn't responded? No response. I call again and get the voice mail so I left a message that if she doesn't respond I will file a complaint with the SC Bar Association. Still nothing. I call the office again and Kami tells me she needs to check with Mary and will call me back. The next day I received an email from Kami stating, "I have spoken with Mary, and unfortunately due to her not finishing a week long trial the week of the bad winter weather, she is now rescheduled for this trial to continue in March. Therefore due to her schedule, she is not going to be able to take your case at this time. Attached is an invoice which includes the charges to date. Being that you have paid $XXXX to date, we owe you a refund of $XXXX. Please let me know to what address we should mail this refund check. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and we look forward to hearing back from you regarding the address for the refund check." STAY AWAY FROM THIS ATTORNEY! You will waste your money and your time! So, I am now filing an official complaint with the SC Bar Association.
