I want to start by stating that my case was ultimately won but only because of the work I had to do, advocating for myself when I felt they should have. If I didn't make the calls they had refused to make, I could've been in jail. They simply weren't up for the fight. Initially, I had to write a letter detailing the many wrongs and technicalities of my traffic stop in order for them to even take my case on since the stop was done by the most difficult/stubborn trooper of whom they strongly dislike arguing against in court. Once I convinced them that they should almost definitely win my case, they agreed to represent me and I paid them their high (compared to the others I called) upfront fee. Because of all of their positive reviews, I told myself that they had to be my attorney. I then never heard from them until a couple of HOURS before my court appointment. I even reached out to them about a couple of weeks before my court date for an update and was told that there was not one. A couple of hours the morning of my hearing, I was called (for the first time) by the Ms. Barboza and told that the trooper threatened to put a warrant out for my arrest if she moved forward with getting the traffic ticket dismissed (she was confident that she could get it dismissed). I was explicitly told that I had the choice of simply trying to get the ticket lowered by half (which I could have done myself by simply going to my own hearing and saving four hundred bucks) or getting the ticket dismissed but then having a warrant out for my arrest for my not stopping fast enough for the blue lights, not the speeding ticket. Stressed and almost crying, I repeatedly asked her clarifying questions about what would happen if I had a warrant out for me because it felt retaliatory for the trooper to be able to threaten me with a warrant simply because he lost a speeding ticket argument in court. She explained that I would automatically have to get finger printed, mug shoot, and processed in jail. After giving me that information, she asked me to make a decision because she was due in court shortly. This is where my dissatisfaction, their unprofessionalism, and my winning my own case truly began. All of the initiative I displayed and questions I asked should have been things she informed me of and she should have done without my prompting since she's the professional lawyer. -I had to ask her if there is such a thing as a continuance since I didn't want to make a hurried decision being that I was just now getting all of this information only hours before court and was too emotional to think clearly. She acted like she didn't know what I was talking about until I asked the third time. Then she said that she could ask the judge for more time. -I had to ask her if she could reach out to the trooper to remind him that he gave me his word that he wouldn't put a warrant out for my arrest if I met him for the ticket. She agreed to call him. -I had to ask her to reach out to his supervisor or someone higher than him to complain about his illegal actions/threat. She told me that I could google search his supervisor's contact information myself and reach out for myself if I wanted to. - Once I finally got in contact with the troopers' version of Internal Affairs, the man on the phone immediately told me that he'd look into the ticket and threat of a warrant and would call my lawyer. When he called me back to tell me that I wouldn't have to worry about a warrant if I win or lose the ticket argument, he also told me that my lawyer said that I misunderstood her and the threat of a warrant never existed. I KNOW that I did not misunderstand the only phone conversation we had since there would have been no need for a continuance if we only talked about her confidence with getting the ticket dismissed. We also texted about the warrant threat and my contacting his bosses so there was no way for me to be confused. She lied. She ended up winning the ticket dismissal (hence the two stars) but only after I called around to find an IA officer to stop the warrant.

Mrs.Barboza is an outstanding attorney. After the 1st meeting I knew I was in very good hands. She kept in communication with me about everything and help me understand the ins and outs.
