I had to find new legal counsel after my first lawyer's lack of experience became painfully obvious the first time in front of the judge. In my search for a new lawyer, Lewis Williams came highly recommended, and he made an immediate impact. My (now) ex-wife’s lawyer was loud, rude, aggressive, and willing to present half-truths and outright lies in the courtroom. (My previous lawyer didn’t stand up to her, but just wilted.) After I hired Lewis, she became much more civil and showed him immediate respect. (He told me he had beaten her in the courtroom before, so that was a good sign.) My ex-wife worked very little during our 18-year marriage, had an affair, and faked a brain injury in her attempt to gain disability benefits. I had copious amounts of evidence for all this. Unfortunately, Tennessee state law apparently cares little about morality and ethics and mostly looks at income vs. need. Thus, I was vulnerable to paying extensive alimony due to my income and the length of our marriage. Lewis encouraged me to settle, even though he told me he would make up to $30,000 in more legal fees if we went to court. I was amazed at his honesty and integrity. On a side note, he is very prompt at returning emails and works through weekends, holidays, and even when he’s sick! There were times when I thought, “He needs to rest.”

Lewis is absolutely the best , and I hate it took me so long to post a review about his expertise. He was my divorce attorney during one of the hardest times of my life and without his experience and knowledge of the legal system , I would have been at a loss. Getting a divorce was one of my worst fears and probably the hardest thing I've ever done. From the first time I spoke with Lewis I was genuinely impressed by his professionalism and confidence, he instantly made me feel like things were going to be handled properly. As the professionals, you entrust them to have your best interest in mind. That was the exact situation i experienced with Lewis Williams. When i first contacted Lewis, i was greeted with professionalism, but not dry, stuffy legal talk. He reviewed my case thoroughly and presented me with several options on how i could proceed as well as the possible counter acts by the defendant. Lewis worked very close and listened to my side of the story and gave me options, and didnt try to push me in any one direction. With all the back and forth between Lewis and the other attorney, Lewis kept me well informed about what was going on, what the next step was and when it should take place which was great. Nothing is worse than not being in the know in legal matters. I find it difficult to accurately verbalize the debt of my gratitude to Lewis. After consulting with five other attorney's, I hired Lewis to represent me in my rather messy and stressful divorce. Lewis knows how important it is for the client to be aware of the overall process and the various obstacles that are possible in a divorce proceeding. Lewis and his assistant, Laura, were quick to respond to any questions I had with answers that not only educated me but also put my mind at ease. Regardless of the fact that my spouse repeatedly tried to draw out or stall the process, Lewis and Laura maintained the forward momentum. Lewis did an excellent job defending me when my spouse made numerous false and ugly accusations. Throughout it all, Lewis conducted himself in a professional manner, kept each court appearance (of which, there were many) on topic, went above and beyond by drafting and submitting all court orders without delay, and received several compliments from the Judge for his professionalism and performance. Unlike my spouse, the Judge never had to openly criticize or chastise my attorney. Lewis and Laura (his assistant) are a wonderful team. In my case, they most definitely set the standard and raised the bar with regards to the level of service that each client should expect to receive from their chosen representative. I received a fair and equitable settlement in my divorce because Lewis was not willing to accept anything less. He effectively protected my rights, ensured that I received the assets that I was entitled to, and did not allow my spouse to leave me with all of the debt. I have already passed his name on to two friends that are considering divorce and I will continue to refer others to him. While my divorce ended up costing me far more than many others that I know (we appeared in court on six occasions for one issue) I am confident that I received the very best representation possible in a divorce that was drawn out by my spouse. The hourly rate charged by Lewis was comparable to the rates quoted by the five other attorneys that I contacted prior to filing the divorce action. I have nothing negative to say about Lewis and I am truly pleased with all of his hard work.
