In often emotional and stressful situations, Karla and Joellyn are wonderful to work with! I worked with Karla initially in 2008 and again ten years later to resolve an outstanding issue with my divorce. They are professional, understanding, compassionate and responsive (and have a sense of humor if you feel like laughing!) that makes you feel secure and confident in their commitment to resolving your issues in your best interest. Great team, highly recommend!!

I first came to Rachel Upshaw in 2015 for a custody case. It was a long road and Rachel was a trusted advisor and pro-active lawyer through many challenging circumstances. She always shot straight and gave me a realistic picture of how the law works and how to navigate the process to achieve, hopefully, the best outcome for my child. Throughout all the negotiations and appearances, her advice, approach and defense always made me confident that I had the highest level of legal support. Four years later, I was faced with a new petition from his father and hired Rachel again, and again, I would not have chosen any other attorney to be my side. Through it all, Rachel strives not to just help with legal aspects, but to truly understand the family's needs and issues - and advises from a place of care for my family as well as understanding of the law. While the advice is often not easy to hear, I always appreciated understanding the possible variables so I could mentally prepare. If you want an aggressive attorney that knows the law, the local players AND who will drive hard for the best interests of your kids - I would recommend Rachel every time.

After doing a lot of research for attorneys in the Nashville and Mount Juliet area, I chose Miller Upshaw Family Law and am so happy I did. From my initial consult with Rachel Upshaw, she was the most positive and respectful person I had ever been around. Everyone in her office treats you like family. I paid for an advocate and an expert. I did not receive that or the individualized focus that was required. I am very disappointed with the end result that Rachel provided to me. Update: Trying to correct a plan that should've never been created. Paid thousands of dollars and six months later having to go through hoops to rectify this current order. What a headache! Make sure you do your do diligence before signing anything. Don't allow your attorney to check emails during mediation while you really don't know what's going on. Do as much research as you can because I was not told or given enough information to make an informed decision. I learned an expensive lesson.

I must take a moment to express how wonderfully awesome attorney Rachel Sharp Upshaw with Karla Miller and Associates has been throughout the course of my family law matter. I cannot express enough how it’s been an absolute relief to have her defend my case from the very beginning to the very end. I was in an extremely stressful and very difficult position and Rachel was very supportive and caring. She made the process less traumatic for me as she was always outstandingly well prepared.
