I highly recommend the law firm of Walter's Gilbreath. Carlos Perez was very prompt in making an appointment with me. Mr. Perez gave me very informed answers to my questions. I was able to make a well informed decision on how to proceed with a divorce. Thank you so much.

Mediocre at best. Withdrew from my case without my consent or without speaking to me about it first (other than telling me) after advising me quite poorly. Recognized illegal action on behalf of opposing counsel but urged me take an extremely bad deal in mediation. Has complaints with the bar and disciplinary action for dropping the ball on a case (or cases) due to his alcoholism/addiction issues. DO NOT RECOMMEND

Luke Wallace is an amazing attorney. His expertise, professionalism, calmness under pressure, and genuine kindness and compassion were invaluable to me when unfortunate circumstances compelled me to seek a custody modification. I needed an attorney who would be prepared to fight for the best possible outcome for my children, and Luke was able to help ensure that they will have a much better chance of thriving now and in the future. I cannot recommend him highly enough. I initially began the process with a different firm. After many months, various factors made it clear that I would need new representation. Calling Walters and Gilbreath for guidance was the best decision that I could have made. I’m on a limited budget but I would have ultimately saved money by just calling them to begin with. You get what you pay for and I’m grateful they were able to work with me to make it manageable.

Logan Kilgore joined our team towards the end of multi-year custody case and brought a refreshing positivity in an otherwise draining situation. Logan swiftly appraised herself of the case and I immediately felt secure not only with her professionalism but more significantly in her level of care. Throughout the case Logan listened to my concerns, stayed focused on the child’s best interests, and used all resources available to accurately convey those concerns during a temporary order hearing and during a week-long jury trial. At trial, I was humbled by Logan’s ability to manage exhibits, coordinate and examine witnesses, and communicate with all involved parties. Further, she was able to accurately recall specific details of the case and then pull factual evidence from the exhibits to directly disprove statements made by witnesses or opposing counsel in a manner that still conveyed empathy to the other parent. Logan’s extensive preparation and emotional intelligence during delivery were instrumental in this case and I consider myself incredibly blessed to have worked with Logan and Walters-Gilbreath, PLLC.

Kurt Metscher represented me during my divorce, and the service he provided was truly exceptional. From the beginning, his expertise and professionalism were evident, and I always felt confident that he had my best interests at heart. I can't recommend Shanon enough! Late one Friday night, we found ourselves in a tough situation: a contractor who put an offer on our house and pressured us to sign quickly was suddenly trying to back out, which would have been very costly & stressful for us. I reached out to many lawyers, most I couldn't reach and those I did talk to either didn't have bandwidth or felt it wasn't worth us pushing back. Shanon, however, replied quickly, listened to our situation, and (as we expected) saw that we were very much in the right and that we had the law on our side. He immediately understood the urgency of the situation, and his responsiveness was unparalleled. Within no time, Shanon drafted a strong, effective demand letter that got the contractor to resolve the issue quickly. Not only is he incredibly smart, but he also has a talent for boiling complex legal topics down to straightforward realities, making it easy for us to understand our options. They basically filed a lawsuit every month against me until I eventually lost custody of my kids. They have no integrity, well let their clients lie about rape in court to get custody. I’m a good dad but unfortunately law firms like these will pepper you to death with lawsuits until you can no longer afford an attorney, and win. They shouldn’t counsel their clients to lie in court.

First, I’m an attorney myself so I had fairly high expectations for the law firm representing me in my divorce. Walters Gilbreath was recommended to me by other attorneys to be, one of the best, if not the best litigation family law firm in Austin and I can say those attorneys did not steer me wrong. Luke Wallace was the responsible attorney for my case and he was awesome to work with and extremely competent. I think communication is key to an attorney-client relationship and Luke did not disappoint and kept me updated the whole time. Luke is also intelligent, hard working, a good listener, and either knows his stuff or was able to research and find the answer quickly; all attributes necessary to be a great attorney. I was also represented by Jake Gilbreath and he was awesome to watch in court. Overall, very impressed with my representation by Walters Gilbreath and would recommend them to anyone needing representation in the area of family law.

Worst experience ever. I thought I was hiring the best. 75k and two years later and zero results I found out I was wrong. I wanted Jake which he spent time to go over the custody case. Seemed to have a plan. He assigned a jr. attorney to handle the ins and out. He does the heavy lifting. That was going good. Until the jr attorney stopped communicating text phone and email. Happened twice. I contacted the office and I guess they had a parting of ways. Got assigned a new jr attorney. Jake cut his rate for the inconvenience. the new attorney was 12 months out of law school. I expressed my concerns. Well we got ran in circles by opposing counsel for over a year. We were never on offense just on defense the entire time. I would ask what can we do and we simply never had a good strategy. Final trial got pushed by opposing. Got reset 3 months later. 3 days before final trial opposing counsel wanted to reset again which I was advised to do. I did not agree and didn’t want to push back. Jake convinced me to reschedule again. But what I found out a week later is Jake’s office never filed the correct paperwork to be on the docket. So they are trying to file 3 days before we go to trial and of course not telling me. I find out from digging into things. They said they did file. I have docs from the court showing they were Trying to file 3 days before and it got denied. So we didn’t really have to reschedule because of opposing counsel. We were never on the docket. That’s why we had to reschedule. Other issues was they actually filed documents with the court on my behalf with the wrong attorney name, wrong dates and in one part of the document they put someone else’s name on it. It was actually filed that way they never showed it to me before they filed it. At the end of the day I had to fire them. I talked the CEO which is Jake’s wife. No one wanted to take responsibility. at the end I got 9k back from them, which I thought was not even close to what it should been based on their incompetence

Shanon represented my wife and I through a nasty property dispute. It was traumatic and confusing for us to know how to “take action” for ourselves. Shanon guided us professionally, honestly and kindly through understanding our rights, the legal processes and outcomes. We settled out of court and we were very pleased with the outcome and diligence of Shanon as our attorney. I would highly recommend him to represent anyone in need of council.

Jake and the team at Walters Gilbreath has exceeded my expectations in what a client/attorney relationship should look and feel like. Unfortunately I have been through a couple of family law firms who were less than mediocre in how they operated. The two things I feel are most important in an attorney is communication and competence. Jake, Luke, and the rest of the team have done a phenomenal job communicating with me and offering top notch solutions and legal advice. I am always in the loop, and if I am feeling indecisive about something, they have an answer they are confident in. At the same time, they are not afraid to get into the court room if that is what the case requires. They manage their operations like professionals, and the attorneys they employ are the best I have ever worked with.
