Jimmy is a great lawyer. He helped me through my divorce case where we were facing a upset spouse. He counselled me very well and he showed that he really cared about my child's well being. He went above and beyond just giving legal advice. He also made sure that I understood all the future ramifications of current divorce decisions. Even where I had made some mistakes, he was able to correct them. My only regret is that I should have engaged him early in the process. I recommend him highly.

What a joke this firm is!!!! Thought all was going fine. Until I realized how much was being charged for what little was done. They commenced papers to draft futher temporary orders that never went into place, and charged me $292. Then, for every email sent by them they charged $17. There was a follow up email from Kathy Reyas, that i never acknowldged or responded to for $32.50. Email reply to client to prepare nonsuit and comments for client to concider, $37.50, which was never done to this day, a month later. I sent multiple emails reguarding this to no avale. When i saw the invoice for June, that came in July, I went to office personally, and realized he charged $25 for instruction for Mrs. Schiller to access Travis county to see if my wifes lawyer had filed a notice of non suit. This was odd because i was the petioner. Same day of that $25 charge, he charged $17 to instruct Ms. BEAM to review courts record for notice of non suit after telling me there wasnt such file. I went to his office. After going back and forth with him about why it cant be filled, i gave in and let him file a dismissal order. He charged me $487.50 to meet with paralegal reguarding case, signatures from both my wife and i. After asking that the dismissal oder, he insisted on doing, be added to my invoice so that i could be issued the remaining unused rretainer, he insisted i come back another day, the next day. When i told him mo, with fear of wasting more of my money, he reluctantly agreed and stormed back to his office to prepare my final invoice(jimmy evans). When presented to me, an invoice that was $1300 one day, turned to $800 the next for the drafting and signing of one paper. If you have deep pockets, and dont care about wasting money, this os the firm for you. I feel as if i have been taken advantage of and would never reconmend this firm to my worst enemy.

I first met with Jimmy Evans when I came home from a business trip, and my wife had left. I have never needed legal counsel before, nor did I think I'd ever be in this situation. Evans Family Law literally saved my financial standing when they were willing to take my divorce case on at the last minute. My ex husband and I tried to handle the divorce on our own but sadly that proved impossible. As a result I received a notice of a hearing from his attorney, whom I was unaware he had retained, in FOUR days. Great service; creative thinking - settled where I wanted to!. I needed legal advise on a revision to a (badly drafted) divorce decree. I had been relocated to the Bay Area of California (from Austin); where the cost of living is 2X what it is in Austin! I had suffered a salary freeze for several years also, and needless to say I was going to go bankrupt (literally) if I had to continue the alimony payments as scheduled. My ex-wife did't want to discuss it without legal action - so on recommendation of another attorney in Texas I hired Evans Family Law. Jimmy represented me. He was cordial, well informed and prepared (for my first meeting) and ushered me through the process without a hiccup. We went through mediation - and as one might expect, there were several moving parts. Jimmy was on his toes - and together we worked the math against the alternatives. He never pushed me one way or the other, and let me settle where I felt most comfortable - and supported me on the final resolution. The bills came through regularly (of course), but I never had to second guess any of them. The statements were very straightforward and reasonable on charges. Today I received my entire file in a dropbox folder. (Nice way to package things up). All in all, I am very comfortable with the results (no one got hurt); and very comfortable with Jimmy and the Evans Family Law Group on handling my case. I would highly recommend them.
