Courtney guided me through the most difficult experience I have had to date as an LCSW: an unfounded board complaint. The first attorney that I hired only made a bad situation worse; in contrast, Courtney provided me with sound sophisticated legal advice. After reviewing my case, which was unfortunately quite complicated, she identified and simplified the most important aspects of the complaint. Courtney was a tremendous help when I prepared my statement for the board hearing; she stayed in close communication with me and always responded in a quick and supportive manner. Her edits and suggestions strengthened my narrative, highlighting the essential truths of my case. Of course appearing before my board was stressful; however, I felt confident that I could effectively communicate with them and resolve the the problem. If you are looking for a knowledgeable and intelligent attorney and prefer one who has an empathic easy manner then you have found her! She will forever have my gratitude.

Courtney Newton has been my attorney for medical board issues since 2001 after being assigned by Michael Sharp, esq. She has been my attorney, counselor and even friend over the years. She has greatly helped me with the medical board, medical-legal issues and counsel in general over the years. I am completely comfortable with her and would recommend her to anyone.

Courtney helped me through a very difficult situation recently. Her manner and approach put me at ease and gave me a chance to regroup my thoughts and regain my confidence. A board complaint can be one of the most demeaning, and disheartening experiences a physician can go through. It is an unfortunate and realistic risk of practicing medicine in Texas. All the years of training and education in a effort to give good care to patients can seem to be for naught. All of your dedication and effort can seem to be in vain. Working with Courtney gave me hope. She helped me prepare for my hearing and gave me realistic expectations to work with and decreased my anxiety and fear of the unknown. I was able to go into my hearing prepared and equipped to address all the questions asked. The outcome was to my benefit and I felt very fortunate that she was my attorney. I would highly recommend Courtney Newton to any of my colleagues who would happen to be in that unfortunate situation.

Ms. Newton helps doctors in bad situations with the Medical Board, in which the physician is guilty until proven innocent. I was most impressed with the degree of relief I felt after speaking with her. In the midst of heightened anxiety, her competence and steadiness gave me a "Hey, I got somebody strong in my corner" feeling. She is realistic about unpleasant possibilities in dealing with the Board, and a compassionate partner in troubled times. Her success in my case far exceeded my expectations, as I believe the Board to be unusually punitive in nature. She was especially adept at utilizing a key piece of favorable evidence in my defence. Her alertness and skill were readily apparent during my dreadful (to me) hearing, where she facilitated my giving the Board appropriate responses to their concerns. Their dismissal of the allegations surprised me, but not Ms. Newton.
