I have always been leery of lawyers. Because of my aversion, I avoided contacting an attorney until late in my case. I had tried to navigate the workers compensation system myself and naively thought that because I had been a model patient for my doctors that everything would work out. The consequence of this inaction was the work comp insurance company attempted to shut me out of further treatment and cut me off from my benefits, even though I was still injured.
