I have never felt secure in many things pertaining to the law. That anyone would respond to my case, at all, at this point, I was resigned to feel it wouldn’t happen. So, when I got the call from Jennifer, mere hours after leaving a message with a 3rd party, letting me know that she’d help me understand and walk me through the process of filing something…something that is so intimate and emotionally devastating, not to mention time sensitive, -it honestly felt like a miracle, even though I’m nowhere near religious. She couldn’t take my case/represent me, though I don’t think for lack of empathy. But, she was willing to research and make sure I had good information…and she listened to me, as I poured out my heart in, I’m sure, only half ineligible language. It made me feel that she was doing everything she honestly could. She’s invited me to continue to ask any questions I have…and I will. It’s very difficult to function through clarity, trying to understand such foreign language when it comes to anything legally weighty, let alone when emotions & stakes are running high. I still don’t have a lot of faith in legal things for a myriad of reasons consistently validated by even attorneys, themselves. But, there’s a tiny bit of hope that I didn’t have, pertaining to this endeavor, now that I have her support. I think everyone should always stay cautious when choosing an attorney, never take your first impression during consultation as gold, as that’s the selling point, no? And attorneys are running a business and businesses don’t thrive off of awful first impressions. But, I can say that, in my case, Jennifer isn’t even representing me & yet I’m being given direction enveloped by empathy and understanding…and patience. What that means for anyone else in any other case, is subject to those individual’s experiences. But, it’s not a bad start, an attorney that’s not likely profiting what she could, spending the time given me, in other areas and cases, helping a scared and desperate mama, despite.
