Challenging my former employer for gender discrimination was a very scary decision for me. I was fortunate to find and retain the services of trial attorney Julie St. John, of the Wiley Wheeler firm in Houston, TX. Ms. St. John was consistently aggressive in her approach, and demonstrated true confidence and assertive poise throughout the process. She refused my former employer's stalls, made our case, demanded remuneration, and ultimately, facilitated and arranged a mediation in lieu of a trial, which benefited both parties. What impressed me most perhaps was her refusal to accept intimidation tactics, including inappropriate comments made in an elevator prior to mediation. She was NOT having it! Ms. St. John led the entire process and minimal communication was required of me after our initial few meetings. She advised me throughout the process and kept me abreast of responses and next steps. Within six months, the matter was successfully resolved, (without the time and expense of going to court), and a settlement agreement was reached. Even thereafter, Ms St.John kept my best interest at the forefront, rejecting proposed language within the settlement that was not good for me. She handled my case beautifully.
