I'm an attorney myself, so when it came to choosing an attorney to assist me with applying for disability retirement through the Federal Employees' Retirement System, I tried to do my homework and thoroughly research attorneys and law firms. I spoke with several, and ultimately felt the most comfortable and confident with Mr. Wersing and his team, including Bethany Sissons, a paralegal. They did not disappoint!
From thoroughly explaining the process to me, to giving me clear directives on what I needed to do to help prepare my claim paperwork (it's the government - there's tons of paperwork to gather and complete), to answering my questions, to keeping me informed about where things stood in the process, Mr. Wersing and his team did a great job, and my application was approved on the first try. I credit that in large part to the aforementioned paralegal, Bethany Sissons, staying on top of the development of my paperwork and making sure I had a complete and correct application.
For anyone considering hiring someone to help you with the FERS disability process, the reality is that nobody can do the whole thing for you. There is a lot of back and forth with your agency and a lot of documentation that you, as the employee, have to help gather (even if you're just filling out medical record release forms to send records to the firm, rather than getting your own medical records and forwarding them yourself (which is faster)). But Mr. Wersing and Ms. Sissons broke down the tasks I needed to complete to help them help me into a clear, actionable plan, which, again made the process smooth and, most importantly, successful.
Finally, I found the cost structure extremely fair and reasonable, given the value received.

I had run through at least 20 different firms when trying to find representation for my federal case involving the FDA...and it was so disheartening I had to do this after 21 years of service to that agency at the time...to say it was exhausting and discouraging was an understatement. I found Aaron and his firm after three weeks of searching the internet and calling different firms, who charged ridiculous and outrageous amounts of money for representation...I had reached my wit's end before I found Aaron and his firm. I spoke to him and his staff and started the ball rolling for my case. They worked with me regarding fees and payment, went over the relevant issues, and looked at all scenarios to negotiate a settlement and help me to move from my area to get out from under that mgnt line...the mngt was pacified when they saw I hired this firm and for while they left me alone... I was shocked and surprised that they had attorneys who represented federal employees in their cases...Aaron kept it real and Andrew Young who was representing me at the time, also did. They provided expertise and possible outcomes and worked with me and tried their best to mediate and finally go to EEOC court regarding my issues...it was a long process and I had to keep my documentation in order and fight for myself as well as they, but I COULD NOT HAVE DONE THIS WITHOUT THEIR HELP...IT FELT LIKE I WAS FIGHTING FOR MY LIFE AND MY CAREER DEALING WITH THIS FEDERAL AGENCY AND ITS CORRUPT MANAGEMENT LINE...AND I COULD NOT HAVE DONE IT WITHOUT AARON AND ANDREW'S HELP...I am happier now as I have moved from the previous mngt line and their branch and Aaron and Andrew had negotiated a settlement agreement with the FDA for my restitution...but again I COULD NEVER HAVE DONE THIS WITHOUT THEIR HELP...fighting the govt is exhausting, disheartening, full of pitfalls and dishonest mgnt people and can make you question your life's purpose, but I am grateful to have found this firm and its attorneys...this is a true account and someday I will write a book about my struggles and those who helped me.

I was accused of harassment and faced stiff disciplinary penalties. After contacting several other law offices (many of which included a consultation fee), I finally found a lawyer who not only listened to my case but also understood the nuance of the situation. Jacquelyn Trevino worked with me to construct a coherent, cohesive defense. Ultimately, I was able to retain my position. The resolution wasn't entirely satisfactory due to extenuating circumstances (agency personality conflicts, agency omitting key information, agency staffing issues, slow agency legal counsel, and a vengeful HR rep) and an overly delayed response from the agency, but I received the overall outcome I sought.
Jacquelyn worked with me to gain more insight, asked for evidence to support my claims, represented me orally and in writing, and attempted to appeal on my behalf. I fully believe that without her help I would have not retained my employment. I would recommend this law office to any federal employee facing disciplinary or adverse actions.

Attorney Ellen Sprovach is unequivocally exceptional! I wholeheartedly recommend her services for anyone encountering workplace-related issues. A few months ago, I had the privilege of engaging with her, seeking legal representation for my case involving discrimination and wrongful termination. Ellen graciously accepted my case, and it proved to be an absolute blessing.
From the outset, Ellen demonstrated an unwavering commitment to understanding the intricacies of my work and the essence of my character, without any primary focus on pecuniary matters. Her genuine concern for her clients is evident, as she tirelessly advocates for their rights and well-being.
Ellen wasted no time in taking swift action, diligently and tenaciously fighting for my cause. She displayed her legal prowess, resulting in a resounding victory in my case. Not only did we prevail, but Ellen also successfully secured compensation for the emotional turmoil and distress I endured as a consequence of the workplace incident.
It takes an extraordinary individual to possess such a profound passion for their profession and the ability to empathize deeply with others, allowing them to wholeheartedly immerse themselves in their clients' experiences. If you are applying for a federal disability retirement hire a lawyer from the start, preferably this lawyer. The OPM process seems cut and dry but there are things you need to know before you submit your package. My son had to apply for a reconsideration because he was not aware of those things. Wersing provided a free consultation and it was apparent from the start he knew the OPM process and ATC disability in particular. He knew from the onset why the application was denied and what was need for it to get approved., specifically statements from the attending physicians that addressed the mandatory prerequisites for approval. I asked about the chance for approval and he said he wouldn’t take the case if he didn’t think it would be approved. So we hired him. There are time lines you have to be aware of also. We needed an extension and the letter from OPM stated the request had to be submitted in 30 days but it didn’t say 30 days from date of letter or that it had to be received (not post marked) within 30-days. As anticipated my son’s retirement was approved. Wersing did post-approval follow up to ensure we new the next steps in the OPM process.

After being removed from the Postal Service after 30 + years, I reached out to numerous law firms specializing in Federal Employment Law. Aaron Wersing personally replied to my inquiry expediently and scheduled a free consultation. I found Aaron to be exceedingly knowledgeable, very personable and genuinely empathetic to my situation.
After agreeing to retain The Federal Employment Law Firm of Aaron Wersing for an extremely reasonable fee, Aaron and his incredible team took over. He and his team created a plan and course of action all the while exhibiting compassion for my cause and communicating with me throughout the judication of my case.
Because of Aaron Wersing and his firm I attained a FERS DISABILITY RETIREMENT!
God bless Aaron Wersing and his incredible law firm!

Aaron Wersing is a great attorney, he’s also a kind, honest, and humble person. My decision to hire the Wersing Law Firm was the best career decision of my life. Not only is he an extremely confident and accessible attorney he was always well prepared for every meeting and never had to cancel or reset a hearing. I never had issues reaching him directly or him responding to my questions or concerns without delay. His attorney fees are extremely reasonable, and he often went above and beyond what he was paid to do. I never felt like I was just a file number at the Wersing Law Firm; Aaron and his staff kept me updated on my case without me having to contact the office. In summary, my case was handled professionally, timely, and ultimately in my favor and I believe that my decision to hire the Wersing Law Firm changed my life.
Thank You Wersing Law Firm, I am most grateful.

Aaron Wersing and Bethany Sissons are absolutely amazing! When I was released from my position with the Department of the Army due to disability the office of Aaron Wersing and his team were there every step of a very long process dealing with the Government. I highly recommend Aaron Wersing and his team, they are very caring and professional, could not ask for a better outcome. Definitely would hire them again in the future when needed.
