Howard was very straight forward with me about my divorce. He didn’t mix words. I received in my final divorce decree exactly what I had been praying for. Lisa Jones Howard’s senior paralegal his right hand person is very very knowledgeable and was always prepared to help me. Howard and Lisa took care of me throughout the whole process from beginning to end. I am grateful to Howard and Lisa. Sincerely.

Don’t hire this lawyer. I wish I would have read these review before hiring Howard. I believe every one of them.

I hired this attorney to get custody back from my ex-wife and he did that for me. I had no real grounds to do it but Howard seems to get what he asks for due to his connections and the judge didn't even listen to my ex's lawyer and in fact screamed at him in the court room to sit down. Now I don't have to pay child support from my six figure income to my ex wife and she has to pay me even though she hardly has any money at all. I was fortunate to take away many of her rights as well, so I feel fortunate that I hired the right attorney. I would definitely hire him again for the same case.

Howard Shapiro is a seasoned pro - truly! The issues that the Shapiro Law Firm address are real life issues - family and criminal law. I hired Howard and his team for a divorce case that I had initiated due to my husband's chronic alcoholism. What that essentially means is that they were now involved in literally the details of the continuation of my and my children's way of life. Not for the faint of heart. And yet what I found was the caliber of lawyer, and his team, that were up for the task not just short term but for the long haul. I would describe my experience with Howard and his team as the following: Life..it does not always cooperate, whether done to you or choices made. At some point eveything's gonna go south on you..everything..and you are gonna say this is it. This is how I end. Now...you can either accept that or you can get busy. That's all it is. You just begin. And that is what Howard does. He does the math. He helps you solve one problem, and then the next and the next and if you solve enough you get to have a better life than the one you were living upon initiation of hiring the firm. If you were to ask me genuinely after knowing Howard and his team for years what I would say - you could not be in finer hands. He knows the law and can handle your case hands down, in and out of court - you will sleep at night no question. And on the back end as you work through your case you will pleasantly find you have a new friend and one you admire and respect.

Howard took my check in March, 2015. Waited to cash it until May, 2015. It bounced.
I had the cash from my retirement fund. $6K
The cash was taken by a hacker at the bank
So he whined and c/ö I was a thief. Then at the mediation he assigned me a new lawyer
The guy didn't know the case, he watched the weather on TV most during negotiations
I got cheated. Never once did he fight for me. I was a battered wife. All I got out of it was $1300.00 alimony & half of his "first retirement". Not once did he ask about a 2nd retirement fund. Nor did my ex disclose it. There was a second retirement fund. I got cheated out of it because the change of attorneys didn't know the case. Don't go through what I did. I missed out of over another $300,000.00. This law firm is the poorest one to defend anyone. I don't feel sorry for them nor will I pay the $6K they said I cheated them out of.

I hired the Shapiro Law Firm to represent me in a very severe matter involving criminal as well as access to my children. I was looking at the possibility of a long prison term and my parental rights being terminated. Howard and Todd Shapiro got my bail lowered to a fraction of what it was set at originally. They found the best possible scientific expert as well as experts in other areas for the trail, picked the jury with the help of a jury consultant and did an outstanding job connecting with the jury ,with a favorable outcome during the trial. They worked with the CPS and reunited me with my children. Howard exhibited great deal of professionalism all through the process.
Rest of the staff like the paralegals were great too. Their billing was very accurate - never had to dispute any item on their invoice.
All in all Howard Shapiro is a great and well respected attorney in the court system & I would recommend Howard and The Shapiro Law firm to anyone that requires legal representation in the area of criminal defense as well as legal matters that involve CPS.

Wished I fired him a lot sooner. Please do not hire this lawyer. He cared more about getting my money, and cared nothing about me or my case, as he continually asked the same questions over and over, questions that he should easily know if he was a good lawyer, and he then would charge me for each time he asked the same questions again. He dragged my case out much longer than it should have in order to rack my bill up. My ex didn't even have a lawyer, and he kicked his butt in court because it was so obvious Howard Shapiro didn't know anything about our case.

This was 6 years ago, but I must write a review so that other people won't fall to be their victim.
I was referred to Howard Shapiro 6 years ago for a divorce case.
1. He was supposed to appear in court. However, 2 hours before the set time, he called me and said he had to leave town for his vacation. So I was left in a limb and not being able to get anything done.
2. He charged me $7,500 retainer fee without doing anything. Absolutely nothing! I drafted all the details and numbers on division of assets/property.
3. They never briefed me about decree and never told me that I could request for child support increase.
4. Their response time is VERY SLOW!
5. Their attitude is rather arrogant and rude, not cordial.
6. Because they didn't do anything about my case, I was at great disadvantage compared to my ex in the decree document, after divorce, and still to this day.
I would definitely NOT recommend him nor his office.

I honestly don't know what attorney these other two reviewers had but Howard, Esther and the whole office are wonderful! This team has worked hard for our case. We have had several attorneys and I only wish we would have found them and used them when we started several years ago. So much could have been avoided. Live and learn. Do they come cheap? Nope. You get what you pay for...ask us. Do NOT hesitate to use this firm! They are knowledgeable, direct, rational and really fight for what is right!

Stay away from this person! he took my money in december and then informed me that i do not stand a chance of winning my case. We were only talking for 30 minutes on the phone, he did not even review my emails. We met on the court for 30 minutes, and now 2 months after he did not even send me a bill to explain why did he charge me. I still did not get the rest of my retainer back,
His staff is rude, i recommend that you rather give up your case then give any of your money to this snake.

The worst customer service experience imaginable! Stay away from this law firm at all costs! If you want to pay twice the market rate for an attorney, only to get frustrated and have serious buyer's remorse, this is the guy for you.
I retained Mr. Shapiro for a custody modification case, a fairly simple case as the child's father no longer wanted custody of my son. Thus, the only matters related to child support and health care for the father's two children. Such a relatively straightforward matter has taken nearly one year to resolve, with no end in sight. I warned the attorney up front the child's father was a seriously dishonest person and that you'd have to keep after him to make any progress, but my advice was summarily dismissed. The serious lack of responsiveness of the attorney and particularly his assistant was the main reason the calendar time is so substantial.
This is an attorney who will not communicate with clients!
During the court date, 30 minutes before we were scheduled to go into the court room, I found Mr. Shapiro sitting outside of the courtroom asking his assistant, OK what do we have here today? Based on the billing records, it became evident he had hot reviewed the facts of the case during the two months prior to going to the courthouse and his performance in the courtroom made his lack of preparation very evident. The child's father was lying on the stand which was fairly evident to this casual observer, but the attorney made no attempt to put his feet to the fire on these issues, but rather proceeded to the next question. A sharp attorney would have completely uncovered these lies withiin the courtroom.
When I brought the customer service lapses to the attorney's attention, he became very defensive and blamed the problem on the speed of the legal system, conveniently forgetting his assistant took six weeks to draft a simple seven page document for filing with the court. Similarly, to go from the Rule 11 Agreement to the filing of the temporary order took more than four months, a complete embarrassment for an attorney who bragged during our first meeting that he was the best. Far from it, as we have learned.
This is clearly an attorney who is living off of his past reputation and is not worth the time and effort to retain.
