CONTEMPT HEARING FOR GEORGE RUIZ TO BE SCHEDULED I personally witnessed the shockingly unprofessional behavior of Mr. George Ruiz in Bexar County Court 13—spread out over two days—before Judge Rosie Gonzalez. Mr. Ruiz was either unfamiliar with, or unwilling to follow, the rules of the court. (Neither of these is good.) He then misrepresented the Court’s efforts to accommodate his schedule. AND THEN, when the judge pointed out his misrepresentations, he responded with, “I don’t like being treated like dirt, though.” Mr. Ruiz then proceeded to treat the Court like dirt. The following day, he appeared LATE. (His client didn’t appear at all and earned herself a “failure to appear warrant.”) AND THEN, when Mr. Ruiz had not only NOT been excused from the court, but he had in fact been ORDERED to remain, he left the court anyway. Not smart. The animus and disdain exhibited by Mr. Ruiz toward the Court was palpable. It was so appalling that Mr. Ruiz earned himself a contempt hearing. Based on the behavior I saw, a holding of contempt appears all but certain. Now, take all that in conjunction with how Mr. Ruiz responds to poor reviews on this site, and the reasons for his bad behavior become clear. Mr. Ruiz is—in my opinion—arrogant, prideful, thin-skinned, hypersensitive to perceived criticism, demonstrates poor self-regulation, and exhibits actual contempt for court proceedings, and for the Court itself. So, one simply must ask, “Is THAT the kind of attorney you want to represent YOU?” We will await the findings of the contempt hearing.
