Joseph Esparza saved my 18-year military career, but more importantly the dream of reuniting with my children! I am an officer in the USAF and hired Mr. Esparza as my Lead Defense Attorney when charged with serious crimes resulting from false accusations from my former spouse during a highly contentious divorce. I went to a General Courts Martial. Overall result: Full Acquittal!! I chose the word “lead” deliberately, versus “guide”, “get”, “show” etc. From the moment Mr. Esparza took my case, he took the role as if the Captain of a ship. A young, adult family member recently incurred several misdemeanors and a felony. We felt totally out of our area of knowledge in dealing with the situation so we contacted Joseph Esparza to assist us. He readily accepted the case and was very professional dealing with the police, ADA and with us. He helped us build an arguement that our family member had midigating circumstances anad deserved a second chance. He was able to secure a plea agreement where the felony was reduced to a misdemeanor and he obtained deferred adjudication after several meetings with the ADA. On the day we were to sign the plea agreement the ADA tried to change the agreement but Joseph worked with him to get it back to the original agreement. He never gave up and kept fighting for us. This process lasted for approximately nine months and during that entire period he was readily available to us to answer questions and help us deal with the legal and personal asspects of the circumstances. He went to each court appearance with us and represented us in a sterling manner. Without his assistance and guidance we would have been lost in the legal system and our family member would certainly have a felony conviction on their record to deal with the rest of their life. I am an Army Combat Medic all thanks to Mr. Esparza!!!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!! I graduated boot camp at the top of my class. I was given the certificate for expert shooter and top BRM in my company. I came to Fort Sam Houston for my AIT training. After I got here, it was time for holiday break. I went home to Louisiana to visit my family for Christmas and celebrate New Years! At the end of me and my wife’s trip there, we were invited by a friend to go to a party at one of his friend of a friend’s house. Confusing, I know. Me and my wife went. She is epileptic and wanted to drink so we spent the whole night attached at the hip. She drank beer and I had what is called “trash can punch”. I was not intoxicated and neither was she. We stayed there awhile just hanging out and having a good time. We left and the next day came to San Antonio. As soon as I got back to base they drug tested us (obviously). I was called out of class shortly after stating that I failed my uranalysis test. Words can not describe the feelings I was having. This was impossible. There was absolutely no way this could be. I was very honest with the sergeants in letting them know, yes, I drank (knowing it was against the rules) but never, not once, took drugs. Why would I intentionally jeopardize all my dreams for that. I was accused of consuming methamphetamines and amphetamines? At first they still let me attend class till CID talked to me about it. I studied my butt off and got the grades to show it. I worked harder than I ever have, to show how bad I wanted this. I kept my spirits high and prayed every single day, many times. CID came and got me to interrogate me. They stated that I was not under arrest so I did not get a phone call but they help me for hours. I woke up at 2:30 am, had not eaten yet and was stuck in a cold room with nothing. They kept saying if you give a statement this will all go away and you can go back to class. I told them the truth and tried cooperating but the moment they asked, after several hours alone, to make a written statement, I felt God say NO. I asked for an attorney. I called my wife as soon as I possibly could and asked her to find the best. SHE DID!! Mr. Esparza got right to work! He requested all the paperwork and test results and when we got it back there was no shock the limit of drugs in my system showed that I must have been drugged. It was such a small amount and I was made aware that it could have been in the punch. I was mortified and felt so violated! I was a victim to this and Mr. Esparza fought for me! He spoke to all the sergeants and most agreed to write letters on my behalf! He was the perfect attorney. For weeks I had to sit on this drill pad and was taken out of class…my spirits were fading even though I did not let it show. The moment I got the verdict, “NOT GUILTY!!!!!” again I was speechless. Mr. Esparza and God saved me!!! I can not express how much this man has done for me and my career! He is the best and forever will he receive Christmas cards from me!!
