Having found myself facing a Class A Misdemeanor Assault charge and having phone-interviewed a number of attorneys, it became clear to me that the possibility of serving any jail time for my actions was not realistic. With that in mind, extensive trial experience was not a necessary criterion in selecting an attorney. Why go to trial if you know you’re not looking at any jail time? Sure, you could go to trial to try and get better terms with the DA, but it could backfire and possibly then land you in jail. No thanks – too risky! So, I thought I was looking at a fine and probation. How much of each was the issue.
I knew my search for selecting an appropriate attorney would have as its highest criteria the experience that person has with the DA’s office. Is this person in and out of the courts every day? Does this person have an established relationship with all the players (DA, ADA’s, etc.)? How long has this person been at the game? Does this person have enough experience with the DA’s office to know when he’s gotten the best deal he’s going to get? Can this person direct me to appropriate preliminary actions which would soften the assigned ADA’s attitude?
I’m happy to say I found the person that met all that criteria. Attorney Richard Ursha. Richard was great. For his reasonable fee, he represented me at all court dates (there were three) negotiating on my behalf, negating the need for me to ever have to appear in court. This was a real bonus since I live in Houston and the court was in San Marcos! I think the averted travel fees alone paid for his fee!
Well, my decision paid off (one of the few times in my life that has been so!). The ADA would dismiss my case pending completion of an anger management course ($45 and two hours on the internet) and twenty-four hours of community service. Twenty-four hours of community service!!!???? That’s nothing. I could do that standing on my head. I spend more time than that watching TV in a week. No fine, no probation! Needless to say, I was ecstatic about this outcome. Having been in the Navy in my youth, I have a soft spot for the military and gladly spent the community service time at a local military charity where I made new friends.
It is hard to imagine a better outcome to a very stupid decision. If you find yourself in a similar situation, do yourself a favor and call Richard. He knows what he’s doing.

He actually listened to me even though he was about 5min before closing for the day,not only listed but understood and had a wonderful conversation for 20-30min….that ,simply that conversation told me everything I needed to know and immediately started working on my cases(plural lol).. Got them resolved in 15-24 hrs. Shouldn’t say this but he should be charging more for all he does, above and beyond. Mr. Richard is truly the best, wished I knew about him before I hired my rude judgmental Austin attorney. Affordable, and I’m broke as heck.

I had Mr. Ursha help me back in 2013. This was great help, but now that I need additional assistance his communication is very poor and choppy. I was excited to try and get some additional assistance: however I feel like I am not important now that I am a repeat client. Very frustrating and disappointing.

From start to finish, Richard was very kind and sympathetic to my situation, and even gave me options to deal with my case to fit what I needed. He only had me come to court when it was absolutely necessary, saving me lots of time and stress, and in the end, I strongly feel I was lucky to have chosen him as my attorney. He did not have the bullish and dry personality I have seen with other lawyers, but he in fact was easy to talk to, a bit humorous, and was very down to earth. He seems to be well informed and has alot of history with the judges and prosecutors in court which can be VERY helpful. I highly recommend him.

Richard Ursha helped me get my assault misdemeanor charge dropped in no time. My close friend recommended him to me and she was right, he’s a great attorney. He stayed in contact with me and kept me updated through the process. I highly recommend Richard to anybody!

I hired Richard to represent my daughter for a DUI, she is a college student. Richard was able to get better results than I expected. He was able to keep DUI off her record. He quickly responds to questions and truly cares about his clients and their future. I highly recommend Richard.

From the beginning he told me he would take care of my issue and not to worry. Sure enough he followed through and had car dismissed. Never had to appear in court. Man of his word. Thank you.

I faced a bogus POM charge while in college that stemmed from an affidavit that contained several blatant lies. For example it incorrectly said that I supposedly purchased marijuana from an undercover agent. However, I was in Dallas for a funeral in front of hundreds of people that day. Furthermore, my roommate at the time had already plead guilty for the possession of the mj found in the apartment's living room. When I asked Ursha about the affidavit, he said something along the lines of, "well, they lie a little bit, you lie a little bit and the truth is somewhere in the middle." If I wasn't a broke college student, I would have left immediately. However, he charged me the last $1,000 I had. It was an awful experience that I endured and he was a part of it. I would never recommend this guy. He pushes the fact he knows all of the prosecutors and that he hangs out with them like that's supposed to instill confidence in him. I want someone who fights for you and isn't worried about ruffling some feathers. All in all, he may work for some folks, but he didn't work for me. I can not recommend him as an attorney.

Mr. Ursha was more tentative and responsive to my many questions than any lawyer could have ever been. I am so thankful for the prompt manner that he would respond to my phone calls. We had a very small chance of winning and he told us every single detail of the things that we needed to get done and in the exact time amount that we needed it done (and we ended up winning our case). I would highly recommend Mr.Ursha to anybody needing a criminal defense lawyer.

When I found myself in need of a lawyer, Rich was there with knowledge, assistance, kindness, and comfort. He seemed to know what I was going thru and was accessible to answer my calls / questions. He always kept me in the loop with what was going on with my case, and reminded me of when and where I needed to be. His professionalism was more than i could have asked for, more than I ever expected. He treated me as a person, as a friend. I wasn't just another client, paycheck, to him!
