My wife and I contacted the Johnson Gasink & Baxter firm as a referral from a close friend who used their services. We were interested in establishing a living trust and did our homework prior to our consultation with Spencer Baxter. We went to his office for an initial meeting and explained our perceived goals . My husband and I had gone to Greg Nussbickel in 2017 to write up our Will and Trust. When my husband passed in 2024 I called Greg to look over and make amendments on my existing Trust to make sure my children would avoid probate. We had two telephone encounters, first one to go over what amendments needed to be done and second one to read over those amendments and to change what needed to be changed. Turns out, I needed so much more information and helps to set up my life care needs, not just my death wishes. I learned so much but the staff is so helpful. Atty. James Frederick answered a question for me on Avvo and after several phone consultations, I hired him to assist with my father's small estate proceeding in Michigan. I don't live in Michigan, so my case needed special attention and constant contact at points. Over the course of 4 years (due to the nature of the case), Atty. Frederick was always available to me by phone, email, and also at one point readily agreed to travel 2 hours away to a hearing for the estate with minimal fuss. I was wary of handling the process remotely when my case started, but I can tell you that it was handled honestly, professionally, and for what I thought was a reasonable rate. If you are in the Livonia area (or anywhere in Michigan), and need any service that Atty. Frederick provides, you can not go wrong in at least speaking to him about it.

We went to see Mr. Elkins with the intention to hire him as we were nervous about our case. We have an attorney handling our case; however, we have had a hard time understanding our attorney. I VERY rarely write reviews unless I feel strongly about the service one way or another. Mr. Elkins is OUTSTANDING. He is candid about whether or not you have a case but does it with tact, honesty, and compassion. He truly gave me great points of views and was really more of a therapist than an attorney. Despite knowing I really had no case, he lent an ear. He was patient and did not rush our conversation. I actually felt guilty that I took up so much time and actually wanted to pay for the free consultation that took almost an hour which included a follow up call!! Truly a unicorn in the business. I once thought only environmental lawyers were the only good lawyers, but Mr. Elkins is an exception. Although I will not be using his services for my particular legal wrangle with a real estate firm (because I have no case), I will in the near future retain his services to set up my trust. After the recent death of her husband, our daughter needed estate planning, especially to protect her young children. At the recommendation of a friend, we found David Hanley in Sunrise, FL, near Ft. Lauderdale. I have been a lawyer for over 40 years, although I do not practice estate planning. I could not be more impressed with his work and demeanor. He is skilled, intelligent, and empathetic. He worked quickly, compassionately, and made her feel as comfortable as possible, considering the circumstances. She is not wealthy, but he treated her as if she is. I have no doubt he could handle high-wealth cases with ease. His fee was very affordable and he made it convenient for her.
