In our initial consultation Emy spent well over an hour answering questions on my case. She was able to bring insight and knowledge that no one else working on this case had. Not just great; Amazing! Such a vastly different experience: a lawyer who told me the truth. A lawyer who told me what my other lawyer had done. A lawyer who pointed out the flaws in the oppositions case. I am in utter shock. I shudder to think if I hadn't decided to retain her. My whole world, my children are at stake and my other lawyer was pushing me into termination of parental rights without telling me. Signing for me and not showing me. For what purpose? I don't know. Emy is a very direct and intense personality. She does not sugar coat, and can be abrasive at times. Underneath these personality traits is a genuine heart and desire to get the best possible results for her clients. Without question we would use Emy for a custody case again. She has the rare attribute of having enough humility to admit her faults and move past conflict to create a successful team effort. Despite our setbacks we were successful with a custody hearing out of state, with the father getting full custody. This is an enormous victory and we are thrilled with how much dedicated effort Emy gave us, as well as her thoroughness in acquiring the correct documentation and filtering out the excess. Emy was very thorough and persistent. She was very calming and considered my options when giving advice. Her advice was very sound and professional, yet she practical. I must have met her on a bad day, I’m shocked by all the amazing reviews. I agree more with the 1-star reviews. She was very unprofessional and overstepping her boundaries. Left me feeling verbally harassed. Did not seem open at all the hearing what I had to say. I think she must have been fulfilling a personal favor to come to me and tell me I wasn’t doing my job, which was news to me. Her stepping in actually halted all efforts to resolve the situation and we had to start over, extending the process time. This happened several months ago, but I didn’t want to leave the review right away in case there was some kind of immediate retribution while I was still in that position. I’m sure she felt she was advocating for her client. I spoke with the client about it later and found that she no longer was working with Emy and was completely embarrassed by how she treated me.
