Based on my consultations with them, Jaclyn and JR Law Group have some serious issues.
Before you ever consider retaining this firm, take your time to read their draconian (excessively severe) fee agreement.
The retainer and fee agreement for this firm is the worst retainer and fee agreement I’ve ever seen. It speaks to the kind of one-sided relationship a client would need to engage in with Jaclyn and her firm.
I’m happy to share a few details, but when I very respectfully called to discuss what I found to be a one-sided agreement, Jaclyn called me back in a very aggressive, rude, condescending way, and told me if I had questions about her fee agreement that I basically needed to go away. That’s how she’ll handle conflicts with you. It’s her way or the highway, without consideration for you.
By way of contrast, when I spoke with a very seasoned attorney, with extremely high reviews, about two concerns re: their contract, he was calm, kind, listened, offered their reasoning and we came to a mutual agreement. That’s how it’s supposed to be done Jaclyn and Elenia!!
So here are a few details from the agreement:
They require an extremely high retainer for the work considered. Theirs was more than twice as high as anyone else’s and 3X higher than Elenia said the main part of the case would cost.
Unlike every law firm I’ve ever heard of or encountered, their fee agreement states that their “billing rates serve only as a BENCHMARK, and not the sole determinant of the value of the firms services for the client for billing purposes” and the primary attorney, at her sole discretion, can decide the value of the services. What that means is you don’t pay their hourly rate — you pay what they demand. That’s absurd and abusive!!
There is no provision in the agreement for the client to review bills and let the firm know if they do not believe that the bill is accurate or if they have a question in the bill. Nothing.
Rather than a fair provision to review your bill, it says that outstanding balances are “due UPON RECEIPT of the invoice” and provides the firm the right to auto debit the client’s credit card whatever amount they deem appropriate.
They bill every two weeks. Imagine that you get a bill every two weeks and you have no time to review it and it is due the moment that you get it and they can auto charge your credit card whatever they decide you owe. Again, excessive.
They have the right to quit your case, “at any time” according to their fee agreement, but specifically if you don’t forfeit your right to take time to review your bill because then you wouldn’t be paying immediately.
If you had a billing or other issue and Jaclyn or Elenia were unreasonable in resolving it and your only option was to go to court (which is hopefully unlikely but it exists in the realm of possibility) they say that you must pay them while it’s being litigated and you grant them the right to lien your funds or property. It’s paragraph 9.
Read that again: While you’re protecting your rights, they can lien your funds or property.
In my interaction with Jaclyn, it’s clear she is a very high conflict person. So your chances of resolving a disagreement with her or her firm (Elenia hides behind her) are likely slim. Her contract leaves you with ZERO power in the dynamic. I believe that’s how she wants it.
I’ve spent two decades mentoring tens of thousands of women and empowering them. This firm is not for you if you want to stand in your power and have a fair, trustworthy, equitable relationship with your lawyer.

I was shocked when my husband filed for divorce 4 years ago. All of the details in that divorce decree was overwhelming, it was an emotional time and my attorney refused to answer the very questions I've seen Jaclyn answer in her Family Law Friday series on instagram! I wish I had known Jaclyn back then. She recently wrote up a pre-nup for my 2nd marriage. I'm thankful for her knowledge and insight!
