I started the divorce process naively thinking I could handle it on my own. I found out that was a very poor decision. A year and a half into the divorce, nothing was moving forward and I felt defeated after every court hearing. I knew it was imperative to find a great attorney that would fight for me. I began my search by reaching out to a local law firm that I trusted. Jim was their number one recommendation to handle my complicated case. Jim represented me during the early stages of my divorce. He provided not only sound, strategic legal representation but logical, supportive advice during an extremely challenging time in my life. Like many, divorce was something I never expected to confront in my life. Finding an attorney that resonated with me turned out to be difficult to find. After paying for a number of initial consultations, I appreciated Jim's candor with me and interest in being a partner in this process. He was straightforward with me, taught me about the process and was very responsive and innovative in his approach. Jim and his staff were willing to work with me on my terms and to customize a settlement plan without the lengthy court process and to also customize his retainer and billing to accommodate what I wanted to achieve. He was willing to roll with the process and we reached a very quick settlement that saved both sides a lot of money and time. The most impressive part of this process, however, was what happened when the settlement was called into question by the other side. This is when Jim's work and advice to me really paid off. Although it cost me some extra money to defend the settlement agreement, Jim was right there with me, confident and willing to stick to the work we had done. I appreciated, again, his candor with me and his clear instruction and transparency which all saved me costs without compromising the strength of our original work. Jim's careful attention to detail, his well-researched advice, and his very impressive letter of opposition and counter motion made the original settlement stick and hold solid. Jim came recommended across state lines when our family was facing a very tough relocation custody case that included an abusive, very challenging party on the other side. He has been firm, compassionate, taken the time to really understand the intricacies of our situation, the children, who the other party is, and has been excellent at helping our family navigate this very trying time with humor, kindness and a killer strategy that focuses on the children first, a component that at times feels lost in this process. I have unfortunately spent ~$100K on divorce attorneys over the course of the last 4 years. Jim is easily the brightest, most compassionate, most reasonable attorney I've associated with. His educational background is remarkable, and reflective of his intellect and work ethic. We've had multiple conversations in which I was overheated, and he patiently walked me through my concerns and talked me down to a reasonable position. That alone is invaluable. Most attorneys will just stoke the fire so they can bill you more. Jim moves you toward a reasonable center position. After two years I count Jim as an advocate, counselor, and friend. That is not common for an attorney-client relationship. Hire him now while he still charges less than $400/hr.

Hiring Jim was the best decision I made when my life was falling apart at an appalling speed. I was relocating to SLC for serious health issues, and didn’t know what to do. Jim Hunnicutt, What can I say ? A LOT. Going through a divorcees a very hard thing, especially when you think it would never happen to you. The first attorney I hired did not have my best interest at heart and did not have my back, I had to fire him and start over. Not only did Jim Hunnicutt have my best interest in mind, he also had my daughter's best interest at heart. He had me looking at the big picture, not just what was in front of me.
